Everything Autumn (for want of a better title......)

Autumn has finally arrived with a blast of cold air and some wind to blow the leaves around as they fall.....indulge me here with yet more pics.....but I just love the colours at this time of year....

teeny tiny buds on the weeping acacia.....

Manchurian Pear tree......

So what have I been doing apart from taking photos of the garden.......well, I managed a full week of work last week after several weeks of having part days off with "the eye" and public holidays......some stitching in the evenings.....and lunch with the stitching girls yesterday and then off to watch Mark play footy....rugged up in the stands yesterday while the guys ran around in shorts and sleeveless jumpers!  Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.......

Cheryl has been going to auctions again and part of a job lot she bought recently included these beautiful threads...lovely colours .....I think they would be great for big stitch quilting .....a couple of these came home with me....

I made a lemon meringue cake to take to stitching yesterday......it was delicious and I was glad the girls kept the left overs for their respective partners as I wouldn't have been able to resist if it was here!  I love lemon-y things and this was perfect......the bunting served a couple of purposes, it was decorative and it also kept the top layer from sliding off the bottom layer of meringue, cake, lemon curd and cream......I think next time I make it (and for sure there will be a next time!) I will part cook the cake before putting the meringue on....the recipe called for it to be cooked together, but I found I had to over cook the meringue to  ensure the cake was cooked.......

A little while ago I started making Dresden plates for a wall quilt......I made an error when cutting (the small one on the inside is the size it was SUPPOSED to be!) .....I sort of fell out of love with making the pattern up (maybe another day) and so as not to waste what I had done I made these two into a pillow.....

The Natalie Bird stitcheries are all done now and I need to look at making them up in the quilt now......so I decided to start on the Gossip in the Garden pattern......because it's not like I have any other projects that need doing!! So a bit of needleturn applique, some stitchery and pieced blocks....and block one is done......

It is Sunday afternoon, and the day has gone quickly (as Sundays often do).....this afternoon was spent prepping some more stitchery blocks for the evenings this week and getting ready for the working week.  Can't believe it is May already.............

'til next time..................Lorraine

Autumn came fast to your poace. Im sure those leaves hadn't turned when I was there two weeks ago! Gotta say I'm struggling with this very fast change to freezing!

The Dresden cushion is absolutely beautiful Loz.

Lemon Meringue is one of my favourite things ever.
