Look what I found!!

You may (or may not) know that I am a "wannabe" knitter......I aspire to great things in my head with regard to knitting....I envy those who turn out socks, rabbits (and softies of all descriptions) and other projects with ease .......this envy has of course only intensified since I have been reading blogs! Some time ago (okay I confess - it was years) I found the perfect thing to keep my knees warm while I watched my son play Under 19 footy for a SANFL side.....(he is know almost 24!) so ok this is a while ago.....the project was a knitted patchwork rug from Australian Homespun Magazine No 16 (Vol 4 No2) - (the current issue is No 58 [Vol9 No3])!!!.......knew it was somewhere in my sewing room and I knew what it was in so that was a start..... and here it is:

Amongst the wool, pattern and needles etc I found a small blue box.......

......and this is the best bit ....... in the box was my silver thimble.....

the prince bought this thimble for me from here a few years ago and I haven't been able to find it - and there have been a couple of house moves in the meantime - so I thought it was lost forever!

I was pretty excited at finding it. He was out in the garden when I ran screaming from the house to tell him - I think he thought the house was on fire or something!

I will also be getting back to knitting the squares for this rug later today (once I have calmed down) ... well, they are squares in the pattern but I tend to increase stitches somehow and so manage to turn out somewhat "skewed" squares! I guess it doesn't matter that the colours are no longer a match for DS2's current footy team!

Firstly, WELCOME to blogland. I love your thimble and that the 'Prince' had bought it, makes things so precious, so glad you found it. Keep on dreaming.
