Haven't been anywhere......but I am back.......

Not sure where I have been but wherever it was the time has flown by and although I have done a bit of blog reading and commenting I haven't posted in a while................I was busy at work trying to get loose ends tidied up so I could go on leave for a couple of weeks......of course it was an impossible task so I am relying on the ever reliable Annette to cover for me while I am away.... .... well not "away" in the true sense of the word....just away from work! ....we had planned to go to Victoria for a few days and may still do that....but at the moment I just want to rest and potter around at home........the house is sorely in need of some TLC.....not the "lick and promise" it gets each weekend as we rush about trying to fit everything in to two days.........there are visits to family to make......stitching to do.....but most of all I need to rest.....have been tired these past couple of weeks....some would say it's old age creeping up......well they would say it if they they thought they could say it and live!!! LOL....(old AND scary)!!........

......so to recap the week................work.......and well...........work! I have managed to do some stitching and have finished Viv's Sampler from Loxton.....just need to frame it and it's done.......I have also finished my bag for Linda's Bag and Bucket swap and I will be posting that during the week........I organised a dinner for work on Friday night and put together some table decs which turned out quite well......and what's more they can be used again ...... and again........just need to add fresh greenery each time......
I was messing about with some black and white and red a couple of weekends ago - it has gone from this..................
to this.......................which is a part of the "whole"........not giving much away I know....pics to follow another time.........

Yesterday I visited the lovely Miss Stacey so she could work her magic and "hey presto" away the really persistant grey that keeps appearing in my hairline!! ...I am happy to be a granny and happy to be getting older (the alternative is not a great option) but not happy to be grey yet.....(call me vain)?? ......so they are all gone for now.........and I do so love sitting there for a while and just relaxing!!......and it is the only time I read those magazines that follow so closely the lives of the rich and "famous"....I will have to take in some quilt mags!

So here is the result following my visit......well just after I got up today actually.......greys banished for a while but like the Terminator....they will be back!!!

Also yesterday we looked for a new stove........our oven has been broken for a while now and I haven't been able to do any baking.........great excuse isn't it! The thing is.... typically while I am on holidays I get the urge to whip up batches of lamingtons or cupcakes or biscuits and this time (unless we find a stove toot sweet I won't be able to !) ....... who would have thought there are so many variations on a theme.......I just want a basic, run of the mill range but these seem to be a thing of the past.....we will continue looking during the week.....how very exciting...NOT.........!

Stove hunting (yawn!) was followed by lunch at a lovely little restaurant in the eastern suburbs of Adelaide and then it was off to Hettie's Patch for my bag making class with Leanne.........I was by this time looking for a bit of a rest....!! LOL......Leanne did a great job with the class.......I managed to get some of the applique done..........and a bit of shopping.......ssshhhhhh!!

I need to do a bit of homework during the week before class again next Saturday......I am loving the raw edge applique!!!

While I was at the class the Prince hotfooted it into the city and did his own bit of shopping....this is a guy who has great dress sense so I wasn't alarmed that he was out shopping on his own......and he came home with quite a few parcels!! I was going to take a photo of the evidence but he has already cut off the tags and washed and ironed everything!! (The man, after all is a Prince!!!)

I have particpated in a few swaps since having my blog and they have been fun......and I have received some fabulous goodies in return....but I was thinking of taking a break from swaps because I had a bit on my plate ...........but of course no sooner had the thought entered my mind than Sharon posted about her new swap in honour of the lovely Cheryl.......the Polka Dot & Rick Rack swap.............I have Rick Rack....look.....

.......so did I sign up? .......of course I did!!! does a duck swim.......? ......and already I have some fun things in mind for my partner - and I haven't heard who it is yet! This one is a secret swap so I won't be able to tell even when I do know.........!

During the week one of my friends (and I call him a friend rather than just a colleague) left to take up a job with another company.......sometimes when people leave it is like...."the king is dead....long live the king".....and it is business as usual......Vincent.....although it will be business as usual.....one day but not just yet........I can say that you will be missed and we all wish you the very best in your new job.......but......you can run but you can't hide and we are all coming to visit soon!!! ....so kill the fatted calf.......unless you have named them all of course and then we will have to bring our own......

It is Father's Day today and I have been thinking about my Dad and all the wonderful things he did for us.....all the funny things he said and all the good advice he gave..........Dad passed away in January this year and not a day goes by that I don't think of him.....so today I say "Happy Father's Day Dad".....we miss you!!!

....so......as I teeter on the brink of two wonderful weeks off.............'til next time......Lorraine

Hey Lorraine! I know how you feel about not going anywhere but being MIA - my week was like that too! Can't wait to see what you're up to with the black, white and red project - looks exciting! I'm a couple of weeks behind you in the count-down to holidays. My beloved starts his this Thursday for three weeks, but I still have another week to work (well, a week involving just 4 mornings!) after that before we head for the beach for two whole weeks - YAY!! Really looking forward to it and am starting to make a mental list of the swaps that are nearly due so can take the projects with me to work on. Will see how I progress! Have a great break from work! Looking forward to lots of project photos!! Tee! Hee! Hee! Bear Hugs! KRIS (Tag Along Teddies)

Hi Lorraine,
I too lost my Dad this year (in April) and it is my first father's day without him. I have spent most of the day remembering the great memories of him. I hope that you too had time to remember.
Take care Linda :)

I love black/white/red combos! Yours looks great! Hair looks good. I am no where near being granny and my kids are pointing out my grays...

What a lovely tribute to your Dad! Everything in this post looks great. I am only 44 and my kids point out the few hairs that are not grey! (My mother started the point out the greys game when I was 15!) Good luck with the oven thing. We are still working on our kitchen and I was blown away by the ovens. Ovens do things now that I would never have dreamed were neccessary, but try to find a basic fan forced oven and it's impossible! Our oven is only 8 years old and I'm sure it was all much simpler then.

Are those appliqued items going on your purse?? I love them!!!! Did you make them on your machine???
Can't wait to see that bag.

I know exactly what you mean by time flying past. I just posted to mine for the first time since July... no idea! I like the very collage-y feel of these photos this time.

What an interesting sneak peak ....black-white and red. Don't talk to me about grey without the help of chemicals I would be white. Have a great week X 2.

Sometimes we all need to take a break without the going away part. I hope you find a stove soon. I hate appliance shopping...too many choices and prices. I like the black/white/red project too.

Relax, put your feet up and enjoy life!

I love your black, white and red block with the stitchery and can't wait to see more.
Pretty applique too. What a fun bag that will be.

Stoves have every bell and whistle you can think of any more. I don't use mine enough to warrant an expensive one. We bought a new one last year and got pretty much of a basic model. I made sure it was self cleaning, though.
Love the appliques you are working on.
