..........because last time I looked it was the beginning of the month........and now.......well........it's pretty much gone!!! An apology in advance to
Suzanne........I signed up for a Journal Quilt challenge on her blog and the theme for September was Nature.......I have started but unless there is a lot of speed stitching happening in the next two days it won't be finished.......I will give it my best shot though.....and hopefully you will see a little journal quilt appear on this blog before October 1......
Lenora has tagged me for seven random things about myself.......I have done this before I think but here goes:
1) I work best to deadlines - but wish I didn't leave things until the last minute
2) I love the smell of coffee but dislike the taste
3) I prefer winter to summer
4) I don't have a favourite colour...most people can say they love blue, or red, or.......not me
5) I used to be good at long telephone conversations but can't do them anymore
6) It was suggested (quite strongly) to me in high school that I should leave the sewing component of Home Ec and take extra typing lessons as they would be more beneficial to me in later life.....!
7) I had trouble thinking of seven random things about me.......
The weekend has passed in a blur....the AFL Grand Final has been "run and won" as they say .....with the Hawks taking the cup this year....! So no more footy for a while......I will miss the footy, Friday nights just won't be the same - or Monday mornings at work when the topic over the making of the first tea/coffee was usually the washup of the weekend games!
We had a friend's 60th birthday celebration yesterday......Linda (no blog) is one of my stitching buddies and I had planned to make her the pin cushion and scissor keep from this pattern from
Gail Pan.........
...so on Saturday afternoon between quarters in the football I got them stitched..(the stitchery part was done previously)......but I decided they needed to be put into a gift bag of some sort....so later on Saturday night I went thru my patterns and decided on a little bag......made that up but it wasn't quite what I was after...coulden't make up my mind what pattern to use....so I slept on it ......and on Sunday morning decided to make this bag from
Cinderberry Stiches:
.........again I had done the stitchery some time ago and it was sitting there waiting for just such an occasion! So after a cuppa and a read of the Sunday paper I wandered up to the sewing room to begin.......(bearing in mind that the celebration for Linda's birthday was LUNCH!! and was scheduled to begin at midday).....no drama......ok, ok - we were a little late - we didn't get there until 12.15......but....the bag was done.......(forgive the photo quality - I was in a hurry!!! ).....and I stitched up the gap in the lining (where I turned the bag thru) in the car on the way......(the Prince was driving)....! I was pleased with the end result and I think Linda liked it......the little stitching angel has her face covered!!! (all too much for her after laying about in my sewing room for so long!)
....we had a lovely afternoon and I got to catch up with the other girls from our "Stitch and B***h group......but I was tired when we got home and had to have a little "nanna nap"..........I was back in the sewing room later tho to finish a cushion I made for a friend's daughter's boyfriend for his mother's birthday...he and his Mum go fishing quite a bit and he was quite specific with what he wanted so I adapted a couple of the "people" from Anni Down's Family Gathering book and came up with this:
...again not the best pic but it was dark!! excuses, excuses........................! So that was it for the weekend and for my stitching efforts......oh I did finish the stitching on Twelve Red Robins so that is all ready to be made up and framed.......! .....in time for Christmas this year hopefully!
I really had trouble with the seven random things about me....I won't tag anyone but if you want to share seven random things about yourself on your blog feel free......!
I haven't done any blog reading this weekend and the way the time is going I won't read any this morning either........!! Hope everyone had a great weekend and achieved whatever they wanted to achieve......when I think back my weekend was pretty good.....did quite a bit of stitching....spent some quality time with the Prince.......caught up with friends........and heard from Mark that he got back safely from his annual end of season footy trip!!
'Til next time............................Lorraine

Yeah, me too. Never had September! I love all the things you made on the weekend. I am so impressed with all your stitching. You are so organised! Imagine having spare stitcheries waiting to be made up!
Love your stitcheries! They are so fresh. I am so missing cricket over here. I fell in love with cricket in South Africa. Shame.
Hey Loz, WOW you are such a quick sewer ... all the lovely things you managed to achieve over a weekend Well Done!!! I have the bag pattern and look at it every now and then and think Im going to make it one day .... along with fifty million other things!!!! Never mind the footy will be back soon enough. Cheers Sue
Who stole not only September but the whole year so far has just seemed to fly past.
Now that's what I call laid back starting something a couple of hours before it's needed. Yikes! I couldn't stand the stress!
Everything turned out so nice. Lucky friend.
I love the bag and am happy to say I have that pattern. The Gail Pan set is on my very long wish list.
My god you are prolific...all those projects finished while I have been laying around. Now what is that fact # 3. LOL. Love the red robins. The little square bags look interesting and useful. Lets hope October is a little slower.
My god, I feel exhausted just reading what you get done, especially in the sewing department! Well done! I'll miss the footy too...
No apology needed...it sounds like you were VERY busy already this week! Looking forward to October's journal quilts.
What I want to know is - who stole the year, nevermind September?
It wasn't you was it so you could get through all those projects?
In this house,,,if it wasn't for the last minute, nothing would ever get done...I am a deadline person, too, and it drives Mr. Wonderful crazy!
love your stitcheries!!
