Gathering in the Hills with Helen Stubbings

I took to the Hills today....the Adelaide Hills - Lobethal in fact.....to spend the day at Jane's Gathering in the Hills with Helen Stubbings........Here are Helen and Jane greeting everyone.....the theme of the day was cupcakes and we all got cute cupcake name tags.......No calories in those.......But I am sure there were probably some in the cupcakes we had for morning tea..................

and.....................We were spoiled with fabulous vintage teapots, cups, saucers and plates...........

......oh and we did some stitching as well............................Helen demonstrated the Colourque technique and we worked on the centre panel of a quilt.......the technique uses colour pencils to colour the "applique" ....this is set with textile medium and then outline stitched in backstitch.....I would love to show you pictures of my effort but I haven't got any....and the battery has now died in my camera.......Helen had some samples of her work ..............and patterns for sale....I bought a couple (featuring cupcakes and Christmas) two of my favourite things!!.........You can see examples of the colourque technique on these samples (which are far better than mine anyway!!)..........................We all received goodie bags - which included a toffee apple...whilst I would love to enjoy this I can hear my dentist telling me not to.....although it would probably be beneficial to him if I did bite into it.......he has warned me that due to some over zealous drilling of my teeth by my dentist when I was a teenager a lot of them are in a very fragile state........so the toffee apple is off limits (for me anyway!).............

............. all in all it was an excellent day.........and I got to meet a couple of blogging buddies in Marc and Kris.....(and I am sure you will see some stitching examples on their blogs!!) Thanks must go to Jane - (you and the girls worked hard to make the day special.........)!!

Jane is also offering another of Helen's quilts as a BOM thru the Patchwork Apple....!

Back to work tomorrow.....and the ankle is better so can't even hobble in for sympathy........!

'Til next time........................Lorraine

What fun spending a day with Helen...lucky you. Cup cakes, vintage tea ware and a whole bunch of stitching, you must have been in stitchers paradise.

I am back blogging again after a short break. Sorry to hear about the ankle, I am sure you could have squeezed a tad more sympathy out of it though.
Till next time

Shelley

It looks like you had a ton of fun! I hope you had an extra cupcake or two since you missed out on the apple! Or, if you were being extra good about sticking with the healthy program, I hope you treated yourself to some purchases--LOL! I'll look forward to seeing what you did when you get a chance to share photos.
