The working week has passed in the usual way............fast!! Last time I looked it was Sunday night.....and now it is Friday.....busy at work.....and at home - stitching has taken a back seat to tiredness this week! I haven't done any more on my Colourque piece from the workshop with Helen Stubbings on Sunday.....here it is........I have stitched around the pot but that is about it!
....Not sure what happened with the colour being a bit patchy on the pot......I think I was impatient (me...impatient....LOL!)......and didn't let the textile medium dry properly......but I am treating this as a sample piece and would use different colours if I did this design again...but I like the technique - especially for small pieces that would be fiddly to applique....however, I love needleturn applique so would probably use that for the bigger pieces (eg the pot) and combine appliqe with the Colourque.......I have done a bit of colouring on some smaller pieces - cupcakes - during the week, but haven't done any stitching on them yet.......Here is a sample of the stitching around the pot on the piece above.............and you know how I love stitcheries so I really like this aspect of the technique.................
Thanks to all those who have left comments on previous posts....I haven't had a chance to reply to all of you yet....but I will get there! Thanks for stopping by and for commenting.....!
Little Ryley is thriving....I am hoping to get down to see her again soon.......even with daylight saving the days just don't seem long enough! I have to work tomorrow morning at a reception which we (work) are hosting.......the Prince is great and helps me out with the setting up etc......which makes my life easier...the reception itself is only for an hour but the setting up and packing away will make it about three hours - and then I hope to get some stitching done...I have some swap deadlines looming and I really need to get them done.......the tops for Dylan and Ryley are finished and just waiting to be quilted........I am going to stop the list there or I won't get to work this morning...LOL........Mark has a morning tea at school this morning so I made a batch of cupcakes late last night and frosted them this morning....he comes in for a bit of teasing as the only teacher who's Mum makes his morning tea contributions....mind you he is the youngest on staff and the only one still living with his Mum!
'Til next time........................Lorraine

wow,,,you're really busy!!
I love your stitching/colorque, I think I could try that, maybe I'll pick up some colors,,,,any tips???
Hey Lorraine! I'm with you, this week has gone SOOOOO quickly! And also like you, I haven't done much stitching due to tiredness - haven't had a full weekend to ourselves since coming back from holidays! Hoping to catch up on sleep and explore and tame the jungle our back yard has become this weekend, so maybe next week I'll be back up to stitching speed. Hmmm ... sounds like it should be up there with 'warp speed' doesn't it?! Tee! Hee! Hee! Enjoy your stitching once the reception's over! Bear Hugs! KRIS (Tag Along Teddies)
Looks like fun. I hope you have a great weekend.
I know, can't believe how the weeks gone... should I say the year! Your stitching is sooo neat. Your such a nice mum making cupcakes and icing them before work!!I think it must be the weather and daylight saving making us tired.... wouldn't be what we pack into the day/week!
Yay for Fridays! Mine will be here in 24 minutes! LOL! Of course, then there's a day of work to still get through, but I'm hoping it will go quickly!
Hi this is the first time visit to your Blog. I do love your piece you are working on. Great stitching and coloring. I have never done that kind of work. I am not an applique person LOL. And yes time is just flying by.
Well, that's it Lorraine! We are all agreed. Time is flying past. Hope your weekend is S.L.O.W. (as opposed to fast!) Have fun stitching!
Lorraine Love your workshop sample it's Lovely..sounds like a great technique to learn....Enjoy your Weekend.

That is a really cool technique. I may have to try one of Helen's patterns. Looks great!
