Australia Day Breakfast 2009

Home again after an early morning start..............the breakfast went well........numbers were maybe a little down from last year but I think everyone enjoyed the morning. Many people arrived early and the service club were ready to serve the breakfasts from about 8am....this is a portion of the crowd taken around 8.15......and the function doesn't officially start until 8.30!
Neil and I were there just after 7am to put up balloons and make sure everything was ready for the citizenship and awards ceremonies.......
...The Mayor on stage along with some members of the Tanunda Town Band who supplied the music for the event.....

So .......another Australia Day Breakfast has come and gone.........It is an event I enjoy organising and it is always good to see people enjoying themselves and celebrating our wonderful country. I have had a couple of emails asking about the significance/history of Australia Day.....there is some information on the history of the day here .........Australians tend to celebrate the day with community events, concerts, barbecue's and of course playing / watching sport which (for me anyway) is tennis and cricket. (and I am watching!) We welcomed 4 new Aussies this morning in our citizenship ceremony - citizenship ceremonies will be held all over the country today....I am going to go and enjoy some tennis on TV and indulge in a tradition that is not confined to this country......a good of fashioned "nanna nap"......LOL....wishing everyone a Happy Australia Day......!

'til next time.....................Lorraine

Happy Australia Day! I know I'm late--I always forget our time/day difference! I hope you had a fun time and not just a lot of hard work!
