Deja' vu........................

Same place.............same drink............different day............yep a week later and I am still working at the dining room table.....well.......I haven't actually been sitting here all week.....I did go to work ....and this is Saturday........but as far as hot days go this is a corker!!!! Nasty......hot wind.....hot sun....a recipe for disaster if a fire breaks out anywhere so we are hoping that that doesn't happen!! .....It is also very dusty.....waste of time doing any housework...like dusting......So I am chilling out (again!) with the fan and my fave drink......

During the week I received some goodies from Sharon after winning a giveaway on her blog ...a post she wrote while she visiting with Boo.......the parcel had a Valentine feel to it with a couple of kits from The Back Door quilt shop in Indiana.......a Quiltpink Moda charm pack ...a magazine called Romantic Homes (haven't seen this one before)..one of Sharon's cute little treasure box bags, applique needles.....and some Swankie Hankies tissues...too cute!! Thanks Shaz....it made my week!!

Going back to Sharon's post on The Back Door.......there were some great pics of the shop and some of the quilts on display.......I took a fancy to one of them and emailed Terri to order a kit.......the quilt was Prairie Basket and the pattern is in Jo Morton's book Yesterday's Charm........Terri was happy to post the kit and book to me and it arrived in no time at all....great service!!..."Yesterday's Charm" is well worth having in your library.......there are 15 projects including Prairie Basket in the book...and I love those colours...! Yet more projects for the "to do" list...but there are some little quilts in here that just must be made!!

I thought I would include a pic of the cloth on my family room table ........it is an old one - the cloth not the table...........I bought it some time ago from a local antique shop.............the stitching is absolutely exquisite....you can hardly tell the back from the front...I am in awe!!! I love this cloth and had it put away....but I couldn't enjoy it when it was in the cupboard so it is now out and I just love having it where I can see it every day..........!

This post is all over the place....I started it hours ago it seems ....and have been sidetracked a few times.....I just went out on the front verandah and it is blowing a gale out there and the temperature is close to unbearable......I was going to go for a drive to visit Jane today but it is just way too nasty out there......there have been warnings to stay indoors and away from bushfire prone areas.......which unfortunately includes the Adelaide Hills.....I am hoping the wind is being followed by the promised cool change!

'Til next time..................Lorraine

Enjoy all your new goodies ... they look great. Love your tablecloth ... they sure knew how to stitch in the old days. I have a little collection of cloths and doilies and as you say the back is as neat as the front.
Hope your weather situation improves soon. You've had it tough for too long now.

HI lorraine, I can sometimes get romantic Homes at one of the newsagencies at West Lakes. I usually look out for it when Cathy Penton has an article because I love her soldered charms. It is one of the cheaper US mags to get. Let me know if you want me to look out for it for you.

Hey Lorraine! Ooooohhh! That's sounding like NASTY weather - you're much better to stay inside with your cool drink and fan!! Yesterday was a bit hotter here than the past mild weeks, but not nearly as hot as you poor southerners - stay cool! Oh -love your gorgeous cloth from your table - I love old doilies, especially the ones with hand stitching. I also have a couple of small table cloths that my great-grandmother embroidered and they are some of my treasures! Wishing you a cool change! Bear Hugs! KRIS

I was just reading about fires in Australia, so I thought I should check in on you. By all means, stay inside out of the heat and dust. It sounds pretty miserable!

I was just looking at that same book at the quilt shop this week, but I was in a bit of a hurry and didn't look closely. I'll have to check it out! Thanks for the tip!

Nice gifties from Ms. Red - she's a generous soul that girl. I heard on the news here that there are some terrible fires in your neck of the woods with temps around 117 - OUCH sister that's awful - you must e about ready to wilt or head to my neck of the woods for a cooling temp of 16 degrees which it is right now with a strong breeze - that would probably feel heavenly right now. Stay put and be safe :)

Hugs- karen

Wow! What a great week! I love your mail. And that embroidered cloth. How gorgeous. I love the mag too. So pretty. I pick it up sometimes too. At the Plaza near Woolies I think. Don't forget, Borders in the Mall has heaps of mags you don't see anywhere else too! Isn't today lovely? So nice and cool. (24 at our house) We seem to have been very lucky here in SA bushfirewise (all because you didn't go to Jane's! Lol!). I just read 65 dead and 700 houses gone in Vic alone. Very lucky here indeed.

I felt the same up here in Birdwood - the worst fire day for a long time.
