Two things I have learned today...............

One is that carpets are filthy (I actually already knew this but it was reaffirmed today!)...and the other is that I have way too much crap/stuff!.........we are having the floors sanded and polished....I have wanted to do this since we moved into the house four years ago......the kitchen is in the family room temporarily while the floors are being done....today we ripped up all the carpet in the lounge/passage/dining room ....(the bedroom will be done later) and the amount of dirt/grit under the carpet was amazing...I guess it has filtered thru over a number of years.....in order to move the furniture out I had to empty out the cupboards.....and I realised I have way too much stuff! LOL.......but the rooms are almost ready for the "floor guy".....his brother.(....the painter)........will be here during the week to paint the kitchen with the rest of the rooms to follow as the floors are finished......it will look fab so the effort to rip up carpets and live in the family room for a while is worth it.......suffice to say not much stitching is happening although I did finish the doiley I started at Inspired Stitches (photo to follow in another post).....and yesterday I got out another top that has been finished for a while...(is 12 years "a while"??) and threw it on the "doover" and it is now quilted! Still in the practice phase with the quilt frame but it was good to get another quilt done.....oops ....no photo of that either.....too tired tonight...!!

Here is a pic of the hallway with the newly exposed floorboards - even in this very unfinished state the hallway looks way better than it did with carpet on it.....somehow it just looks "right".

Rhiannon made the comment that the hallway looks longer/wider.......then backed that statment up with......"oh...it may be that all your quilts and crap aren't there"..........gotta love 'em!

The Prince had a busy day and when it came to having a quiet drink tonight......he found he was out of red wine.....!! yikes.....had to drink white!! ........and the only table available was upside down on top of another one.....renos are the best fun aren't they!

I was going to go out tomorrow to catch up with some blogging buddies but still have a lot to do in the house so will have to put in my apologies which is a shame....but can't do everything - so have a great afternoon girls!

'til next time...............Lorraine

Wow, that floor that you've uncovered looks AMAZING! I love everything about it--the board width, the color--just everything.

I have to agree, there's just something about beautiful timber floors, and what stunning stained glass windows you have around the doorway.

What a beautiful entrance - it's going to look more beautiful when your floors are finished.

Thanks for your email!! I agree with Rhiannon... about the hallway looking better.... still laughing about the rest of her comment about the quilts and crap!!! That's what I'd say to my mum if she moved all of her enamel crap out of the kitchen!!!! ;) Hope you can rest a little today?? Wishful thinking...!! I guess that The Prince will be heading out to his friendly 'bottleo' sometime today too!?

Hi Lorraine, sorry you won't be there this afternoon after looking at your post I was wondering how you were going to reno and be at a stitching afternoon. Good luck with it all and we will catch up in loxton which really isn't that far away better start saving some money.

What a pretty house you live in Lorraine! Can't imagine it with carpet! Yes, ripping up carpets is enough to ensure you never have carpet again. We ripped up 18 month old carpet when we moved in here and the stuff under that was amazing!

Will miss you this arvo! Hope you get everything done!

I love your floorboards even unfinished! When I grow up and have my own house I want floorboards.

I love the stained glass windows as well.

And yay! for finishing one of your UFO's. That's brilliant work :0)

Gorgeous hallway - love the sidelights, screen door - everything. So true about carpets and our accumulated stuff but it's all stuff we can't live without.

Okay, so is THIS your vacation/time off work? If so, boy, you really know how to relax, don't you?! ROFLOL! As everyone has said, though, it's looking great!

What a gorgeous entry. LOVE the stained glass. Mr. Creations is our stained glass "artist. He covers the windows and I cover the walls. Wishing I could rip out all of our carpet! Yes, crap accumulates. We used to move every 3 years and now I've lived in the same house 11 years, with a basement. Moving next time will be a chore.

What a lovely hall. Just beautiful. Wood floors are so much better than carpet! We have a lot of wood in our house and I love it.

When we had our carpets pulled up I was really embarrassed by the sand castle pile of sand left behind. The fellow who pulled them up said it wasn't too bad he had seen much worse, still it was a lot of dirt.
