Yesterday I visited Jane at the Patchwork Apple and took in my block for the paper bag "party"....and picked up the block that I am to work on next.....yikes...pressure's on ...it is a lovely applique block......I will have to think on what I am going to do. It was good to catch up with Jane ..... and spend some time wandering around the shop.....lots of new goodies! I bought a couple of pieces of some of the new Civil War fabric....as I don't have any in my stash and the paper bag block I will be working in needed them......oh yes it does.....!
This morning I jumped on the treadmill for a brisk "walk" while I watched a bit of tennis....gave my sister a call.....which took up another hour......then headed upstairs to the sewing room....well the landing actually where the "doover" resides.....Lilly's quilt has been draped over the rollers ready to be loaded for several weeks......today was the day!! ........and the machine behaved beautifully! Didn't miss a beat......don't ya love it when that happens.....no skipped stitches or crappy tension issues........I use an Elna Contessa which was given to me by a friend........thanks Cheryl!! I can leave it set up on the "doover" ....all ready to go anytime I want....
......here is the top (well a bit of it anyway) with the binding sewn on all ready to hand stitch....my evening stitching project for this week......
The quilting is just a meander......nothing too fancy......I pieced the back of the quilt...........
When that was done I found a little wallhanging, a Leanne's House pattern, that had been finished for a while and put that together ready to hand quilt.......well the Aussie Open tennis is on at night so once I finish the binding on Lilly's quilt I will need something else ready to work on!
This will be a four day week for most people, with Australia Day on Tuesday........but I will be working for at least half the day as part of my job is to organise the Australia Day breakfast in our area.....always a well attended event with around a thousand people sitting down to breakfast - there is also a citizenship ceremony and our Australia Day award winners are announced.......hoping it all goes to plan.......!! Once it is over I can relex and take the rest of the day off. ....hmmmmm......stitching or housework......LOL....no contest......have to be stitching won't it?????
Happy Australia Day for Tuesday!
'Til next time....................Lorraine

Happy Australia Day too.
Love your new finish. Happy Australia Day on Tuesday. Hope you get planty of time to sew.
You've been busy, busy, busy. A good day for me is when the machine I'm using works as it should, no tension problems, no arguments, just doing its job.
Lovely finish. What a pretty place to display it!
Happy Australia Day!
How wonderful your quilt looks--the perfect backdrop too! Glad you're finding time with needle and thread to please your creative needs! Love the other two projects as well--you must be pleased to see these beauties getting finishes.
I remember last year this time when you were getting ready for the huge breakfast--that is a big job and definitely deserving the reward of sewing over housework! Happy Australia Day!
Hi Lorraine, I am off to work today can't believe I have had a whole month off. I have that pattern of Leanne's never started it, she did a set of 4 I think and I have them all sitting there in my sewing room and I was going to do them but have I.....

I just LOVE Lilly's quilt, the back is as gorgeous as the front!!!! And I'm with you, if there's a choice between housework and stitching .... well, the dusting can wait he he he.
