I'm back.....it must be Sunday!

Kris and I ran away to the beach for a few days on Wednesday.......Girl/bloggy friends and stitching....two things you can always rely on! There was no internet/mobile coverage where we were staying - which for two people who love their laptops and phones was "interesting"....after we established that there was indeed no coverage (ever the optimists!) we put away the laptops and got out the stitching!
...the mobile phones.....well........one of them was still receiving the odd text but no calls could be made......only one........??? explanation follows....................
The first night at the beach house was hot......we waited until the sun was almost gone and went down to the beach.....
.........one of us decided to go for a swim......clothes and all...........I was busy taking photos and just breathing in the sea air......Kris was paddling around in the water telling me how good it was.......but I don't think her IPhone was enjoying it as much!!!......Oooops!!
She sloshed back to the beach house and put the phone away in her room......to have a little rest!.....and got out her stitching!
Just before Christmas I started putting this quilt together....it was featured on the Moda Bake Shop and is a pattern by Rachel Griffith of PS I Quilt.......

I got a couple of rows done then it got put away ........when I was packing for the beach house getaway I grabbed all (well...almost all) the pieces and took them with me...................and after a hand stitching stint......and some time spent on completing the next round of the paper bag quilt (I got to work on a fantastic applique block...and it scared me!!).....I got out the Beach House Bernina and started work on the Scruffily Quilt.......and was pretty happy with the result........

You may notice that one block (bottom row) doesn't have any squares stitched on......but it will have....like I said......I took almost all the pieces!
So back to the real world today and I have started on the packing / cleaning of the sewing room......holidays are great aren't they? Thanks for coming with me Kris......and I have to also say thanks to Chooky Blue for her parcel....as I said ....girl/bloggy friends and stitching....can't beat that combination!

'Til next time...............Lorraine

A girly/quilty getaway sounds luscious. I am going to have one of those someday, I hope! Laughed at the iphone's dip in the sea--your poor friend! That was an expensive swim.

The new flimsy is so pretty and fun! Glad you're getting stitching done on your holidays.

Hi Granny Loz,
What a super new quilt, smart with 1 block different, keep on stitching, soon you`ll be there!
Looks lovely on the beach, here we struggle with tons of snow and a very low temperature. Very good for indoor activities.like quilting.

Beaches and sea side towns are just the best places to relax, so glad you had such a great time. And I am very impressed that you got some 'work' done as well.
