Moving in.......

.....Friday afternoon the phone call finally came thru to let me know that the sale of the old house and purchase of the new house was complete......I could finally say it was done.......and start to move on..........I collected the keys from the agent and after work met a few friends at the house for a celebratory drink.......I had packed the champagne glasses but didn't put them on the truck with the rest of the "stuff"....and the champagne was in a friend's fridge just waiting for that phone call!......

I don't usually drink alcohol...but thought after the last three months I needed a drink.....and I have to say I really enjoyed that glass of champagne !!  I had also put the toaster and kettle in a separate box so I could stay at the house on Friday night.....a friend made up a "care package" for me with muffins, tea bags, jam and vegemite, milk and choccies of course....so the next morning while I was waiting for the truck to arrive I enjoyed breakfast in the garden.......in the sunshine ..........

Danny and Patrick arrived at lunch time....just after Linda (one of my stitching buddies) who bought home made soup......rolls and pies and pasties for lunch......then it was down to the business of unpacking........while Linda made a start on the kitchen Danny started assembling a couple of pieces I bought at Ikea a few weeks ago......he was pleased with his efforts..I took one look at the instructions and went to water....so it was just as well he was here!!

While Danny was assembling furniture Patrick retuned the TV and set up the computer.......I was pleased when it started up.........after packing it last week I decided to take in the car with me and not put it on the furniture truck........I had packed it pretty well with pillows in the top and bottom of the box and plenty of padding around it........but wasn't sure if that would be enough to protect it when it was accidentally dropped at the top of the stairs and tumbled to the bottom......but obviously the packing was good enough.....as it fired up last night....! Phew!!

I have been unpacking all day today and should finish tomorrow......this little guy was soon joined by his friend.........

.........and they made a break for it after being boxed up for a week.....

..........hung around checking out some of the other boxes.....

...........then did some unpacking of their own.......

 'Til next time...................Lorraine

Satisfaction! What a great feeling you must be having now, despite all the work of packing, moving, and unpacking. Love your red kitchen appliances and congrats on getting so much help with your task! The bears were too cute. I had to forward a link to my dad (he has a bear companion too)

Hey Lorraine! Moving is usually both daunting and exciting and it looks like you'll be settled in in no time. Oh and you have GREAT taste in kettles ... we have the same one! :0) Love the photos of your little furry helpers - our bears always 'help' us unpack when we move - Scott says that's how he knows we're 'home' ... the bears come out to play! Hope you settle into your new home quickly. Bear Hugs! KRIS

A fresh start should always begin with a cuppa and a vegemite muffin...everything should seem do-able after that!
