Who knew............

.............I would be spending more time in the garden than in the sewing room???  I certainly didn't....!  The garden was established by the people who built the house....and for that I am certainly grateful....all I have been doing (which by no means makes me a "gardener") is adding some potted colour to the back garden and keeping the weeds at bay (not easy this time of year after some good winter rains!)

But I am really enjoying pottering (pun intended!) in the garden...........I have help of course.....Rose especially loves the watering part......she ends up looking like a drowned rat covered in potting mix/dirt!  One of my favourite flowers is the sweet pea.....love the colours and the way their perfume wafts into the house thru open windows on a warm afternoon.......makes me smile! One of the first things I did when I moved into this house was pot up a packet of sweet pea seeds......they battled thru the frosty winter mornings and a few weeks ago I put a trellis in their pot......they loved that......and have reached the top already.....

and today..........I spotted these......

............the first flowers........I know ......simple things...!!  LOL

Rhiannon came home today and spent the afternoon with me....Mark and Terri came over later in the afternoon and stayed for dinner....really enjoyed having them here.......during the afternoon Rhiannon decided to make a plate of cheese/fruit.......alas no dried apricots....which meant a late afternoon dash to Angas Park.....for a few things......

Most of these will be in the post to a birthday person tomorrow......shhhhhhhhhhh!  So Rhi managed to get her cheese plate done......

.....and spent some quality time with Rose....

Thanks for coming to visit Rhi.....like the sweet peas....you make me smile....!

There was a tiny  bit of stitching yesterday......I spent the morning at the Patchwork Apple for Club Rouge.......I got one row stitched and was intending to sew the rest when I got home.....but watched the second half of the AFL Grand Final instead.......which I will be able to do again next weekend given the game was a draw and will be replayed then.  Hopefully the 'Pies will prevail!

I love weekends.....but they always go so fast............and this one was no exception.  Next weekend is a long weekend and I am intending to take an extra day to give me a four day break......stitching is on the agenda!  Watch this space.....!

And to finish this post........a pic of the lovely Miss Rose.  Have a fabulous week.

'Til next time.......Lorraine

I love Sweet Peas. It was the first flower I planted in the garden of our first house. My oldest daughter's nickname is Sweet Pea. Rosie is so beautiful!

Miss Rose is a lovely gal. I'm sure she's charming even when she's "helping" with your gardening.
Sweet peas are such lovely flowers. Wish we had some in our yard somewhere.
You've had a busy weekend. Isn't it frustrating how quickly the weekend hours disappear?

Enough with the gardening already. You're making the rest of us look bad. But way to go with those sweet peas!

Rhi is a lovely young woman and I see Rose is looking more grown up every time you show us her picture.

Darn tooting those weekends flash by. Frankly I think we should get 5days off and only have to work 2!

I thought of you Saturday. St Kilda are being toutted as favourites now to take out the flag (if anyone ever wins)

Aha sweet peas...I love them and forgotten all about them. I have a trellis that is waiting for a rose to grow up it, but in the meantime sweet peas will be great.I'll be off to the nursery sometime soon!! Thanks.
I'm loving gardening at the moment too.
Miss Rose is so cute and no doubt a good companion.

I think it is the time of year that encourages us to get into the garden. I spent most of the weekend there and today I'm spreading mulch which will hopefully make weeding easier (and less) At the moment I think the only winners in the AFL grand final is the AFL itself (lots of money there).

Ohhhhh Sweet peas remind me of such great times in my Grannies garden playing...and the smell through the house.....I have lost my mojo for quilting .....but I am going to see if I can find it again....
off to Ikea to have a look at their fabric

My how rose has grown. My sweet peas' have been flowering for a couple of weeks now, well a couple of the fines there are still a few that haven't come out. Ours are a bit of a tangled mess I am afraid they were looking ok until that big wind a few weeks ago then they got all mangled and our life got a bit hectic over the last couple of week. Chris untwisted them on the weekend so hopefully they will straighten out now. Have a good week.

You're doing so great with keeping up your classes--so glad you're getting so much done! Lovely girls you have there :)

I love sweetpeas too but am terrible at watering so I'd be sure to kill them.

OHHH--I have to say that "sweet peas" are one of my very favorite flowers--but I have yet to have any really grow nicely for me--so I am "jealous"!!!!
thanks for sharing all the photos and your week end--and give that Miss Rosie a big hug for me!!!
Hugs, Di

Lots of lovely stuff going on at your place, especially Rhi and Rosie. I noticed we have the same kettle! Your garden will be so pretty when all those sweet peas come out.

I love sweet peas. Such beautiful perfume. I used to do a lot of gardening but not so much any more. How sweet is Miss Rose? Cocker spaniels are always a big help in the garden.....well, in their minds they are! You've certainly been busy. No wonder the weekends speed by!
