Australia Day.......

"THE" breakfast is done and dusted for another year.......everything went well......1,000 people sat down for a cooked breakfast...bands played.....kids had their faces painted and awards were given.  I had an early start so once the breakfast was over a few of us went out for brunch - I never get to sit down and eat at the event.......so it was nice to relax and reflect on the morning's activities.  The citizenship ceremony is always fabulous....and this year we had 13 people who became Australian Citizens at the breakfast.  I made up bags for them which among other things held the all important certificate...........

Perfect day weather wise today......sun is shining...no wind and to go with that perfect scenario there is cricket and tennis on the tele to listen to while I stitch...yep...that's the plan for the rest of the day....!  I have CW blocks to catch up on and just want to get in there and inhale the delicious fabric-ness of the room.....not sure if that makes sense to you the reader...but I know what I mean.

Driving to the event this morning it was quiet on the roads and just generally quiet.....there were walkers and cyclists and a couple of hot air balloons drifting over the vines ......a lovely time to be out and about (I am sure Rose was thinking that as well as she farewelled me without our morning walk......if dogs could pout......)    we will go out later when it is a little cooler...promise!

Haven't blogged for a while....not really anything blogworthy happening....no stitching ....a lot of work......oh...there are a couple of things.......I tried to kill one of my friends - well not intentionally of course.....she came over for stitching and I offered her a drink........she took one sip and felt an allergic reaction coming on....puffer to the rescue......sulphates will do that to her apparently.....I felt bad....but she bided her time and last weekend  we went out for breakfast and some food shopping afterwards....the car was hot when we got back to it so she put down the windows....I put my hand up "near" the edge of the window....ok...it might have been closer than that...because she put the window up...with my finger in it!  Yikes....I couldn't even utter an expletive......all I could say was "ouch..ouch....ouch..."  ...no harm done....a bit of broken skin but I could still type and don't even have a black nail to show for it.....so Cheryl...I think we are even...LOL

'Til next time............................Lorraine

Congrats on once again pulling off such a momumentous task--definitely deserving of some inhaled fabricness, LOL!

I always worry about hurting my hands--never want to fall on them for sure!

I was thinking of you this morning when I rolled out of bed at 8am. Figured you'd be halfway through brekkie. Glad it all went well.

Hope you got some serious sewing time in !

I am like Shay I was thinking of you this morning. I'm pretty sure tit for tat injury's are not a good thing.

You two! If you can't play nicely together you will have to be separated!

Glad the morning went well, hope you enjoyed brunch!

I was thinking of you that morning remembering that you are responsible for the mayor's breakfast... I have heard it is fairly difficult to become a citizen...you aren't like us and take every Tom, Dick and Crazy Harry...lol

Wow 1,000 people!.....you do a fabulous job every year with the Australia Day celebrations. Hope your sore finger doesn't impact on your stitching. Linda :)

I was thinking of you yesterday glad everything went well. We did nothing for Australia Day, until 5.30 when we headed to the beach, the sea was pretty choppy and the waves were good for body surfing and the kids (including Chris) had a ball.

Such an important occasion, and it sounds like all went well.
You must be REALLY good friends to still be speaking, after your two traumatic incidents.
I bet Rose was pouting inside, since she can't show it on her lovely muzzle -- as only a dog can.
