It's Official......it's a Patchwork Shop crawl......

After leaving Lenora's on Thursday morning I drove to Castlemaine.......why?  Because I heard it was a nice place to visit......and ok...ok........there is a patchwork shop here......Threadbear Patchwork and Quilting.....

Spent quite a bit of time browsing in the shop on Thursday and went back today for another look......way too much to take in in one visit........I bought the pattern for the quilt behind me......lots of applique......in gorgeous repro prints......a project for the winter evenings which will be on us before we know it......thanks for your hospitality Corliss.....

Yesterday I visited the historic town of Maldon........because of it's history value of course........oh...and it might have had a patchwork shop......oh...yeah....so it did......

I was very restrained here and just browsed.........

Maldon has lots of cute shops and is well worth a visit if you are in this neck of the woods........here are a few pics from my day.......starting with breakfast......

I am a sucker for a picket fence and great garden....and old houses.......

 Inside the lolly shop......

 Hitching post and water trough.......

Look at Jazz.....too cool to park on the cobblestones.......

Oh and I might have found a clothes shop with a 25% off sale as well............Nice!!    I hate clothes shopping but because I wasn't looking for anything in particular I found some cool stuff.......

After arriving back in Castlemaine I unloaded the car........and walked down to this shop.........Haberdash.......I might have spent three hours there.....this is a seriously awesome shop to visit......My pics don't do it justice...but if you are into vintage buttons/trims/laces/sewing sets/doileys.......(you name it.....this shop has it.....) it's worth putting Haberdash on your "to visit" list.

Every drawer (and there were lots of them!) held yet more treasures.......

These things might have come back to the motel with me......the quilt button will find a home in my sewing room.....the pin cushion is just too cute...the thimble will be well used....and the green "bling" is for my possum cape to dress it up for going out....the big plastic buckle.....well...that's a "just because" purchase....."just because I like it!"

Here are a few more pics of some of the lovely old homes here.......did I say I am a sucker for old houses?

Castlemaine....a lovely place to visit.....and the staff at the Colonial Motel have been awesome....thanks girls...you rock!

This post has gotten bigger then Ben Hur.......but if you are still with me......it is said that every picture tells a story........try this ..........

It's not quite in "order" ....but Once upon a time a Princess called Loz packed her suitcase, left her little dog behind :( (in good care), got in her car and drove to stay with Lenora who lives on a farm with lots of cows......

.......to be continued........

Gratitudes.....
feeling alive again
a job to go back to once I get home

'Til next time..................Lorraine

I love Castlemaine. Always have. Even BEFORE you showed that shop. Haberdash? Wow! Gotta go for a drive and look at that I think! Looks like a lovely time. My favourite thing at Castlemaine (up until now) was the jail tour.

It does look like fun. Hope there is more fun to be had!

I love your gratitudes at the end of this post Loz (especially the feeling alive again one)

You needed and deserved this holiday after working so hard lately.

I'm wildly jealous and happy for you at the same time of all you're seeing and doing. It looks like a great time. Enjoy your down time Princess!

I should have followed you to Castlemaine, looks like you had an awesome time. A little sad it was over too quickly. Love your Pandora charms, especially the cow!

Seeing all your photos is nearly as good (but not as expensive) as going to all those places. What was that you had for breakfast? It looks wickedly calorific. I love hold house too but they tend to be money hungry unfortunately.

Looks like you had so much fun!!! I love this area. Just before Christmas I had a girls weekend in Daylesford and we spent the day in Kyneton which is now my new favorite!!! So much to look at (and buy)!

Glad that you've been having a great time away!! I think that you should be grateful for a good job to pay for all the fabric you're going to need to make up the new patterns you've bought!!! ;)

Love Malden and Castlemaine. Another great spot you should visit if you haven't already is Daylesford (oh, and Beeac of course lol). You are going to be busy over winter stitching that quilt.

Have fun,
Marion.
