Randon D&M thoughts.......

Or probably just random thoughts / questions with not so much of the D&M about them.......

          why is that:
  • sometimes I am just quiet..?  ...happy to come home from work and shut the door on the world outside and just "be"
  • I can wake up one morning and struggle to open my eyelids( let alone get out of bed)......then the next morning with the same amount of sleep I can bounce out of bed before the alarm goes off (while the moon is still up and the sun isn't!) and be out the door for a brisk walk??
  • I have blog posts rattling around in my head but can't get to the computer to post them......?
  • things that really used to piss me off don't bother me anymore
Acceptance of self - not to worry about it if I have an attack of the "can't be bothereds" - or on the other hand I could be just lazy...or really bad at making a decision!

Enough of the D&M stuff........I think I spend way too much time trying to find answers for things that don't have one......Shay on the other hand has spent some time doing a time and motion study.....I did have to check on the calculator that yes...there were 168 hours in a week.....(wasn't going to admit to that....but Kris did the same thing.....! I am sure Kris and I are twins separated at birth!) .....thanks for taking the time to do the study Shay.....I won't be doing one but a couple of things that popped into my head were that I spend 7 hours a week walking.......and about half that time in the shower......sleeping takes up a big chunk of time as does working......and the rest of the 168 hours??  Who knows?  but it was thought provoking......oh maybe that's where my time goes?  Thinking!!!  of course!!!  thinking about getting out of bed, thinking about getting into the shower.....you get the drift.....I spend most of my week thinking about the things I want/need to do....!!

On the weather front -  my previous post about the cool mornings prompted a sudden return to warmer temps.....25 today.....and the same for tomorrow......perhaps I have been hibernating (thinking) all winter and it has passed me by?  No......the trees out the front still have their Autumn coats on.......

Stitching?  Not so much this week.......(I have thought about it though....LOL).....but here it is Friday again......with a weekend all laid out and bare in front of me......all ready for me to use as I see fit.....I will try not to over-think what to use it for....!  I do have a visitor coming on Sunday to pick up the quilt frame which is looking very forlorn in it's dismantled state in the spare room.  It will be perfect in Nay's place!!

I will leave you with a pic of the sky this morning........a new day......no need to think about what I am going to do with it......I am off to work....yikes...right now....!

'til next time.......Lorraine

Loz, that was a deep post, but I do know where you are coming from...I am off to do some calculations and scare myself...

D & M = Deep & Meaningful

That time and motion exercise would scare the pants off me - I know i waste too much time at the computer.
But strangely enough, I am so caught up with housework/laundry etc I am beginning to wonder if someone else is doing it for me? I lost my cleaner a couple of months back but just in the last week, I seem to be on top of it all.

We have a new kingsize bed and after taking a while to get used to it, I can't wait to get there each night! I got a solid 8+ hours un-interupted sleep last night (not even up for a wee!) and bounced out of bed this morning like a 10 year old!
I may just log my hours, starting next Monday, just for funsies and see how I use my 168 hours!

Cheers - Joolz

The last couple of days have been lovely and mild, more tomorrow and then the cold weather is back. I think I too, would scare myself too much with a time and motion study, ie: do I really spend that much time on the computer - and doing what? When I get an attack of the "can't be bothereds" I just go with it now, and usually get a good book and start reading and reading.

Similar questions rattle around in my head too - especially about waking up/sleeping in. Hope you have a great weekend.

I decided I really didn't want to know what I do in a 168 hours that was just too scarey. The only thing I do begrudge is the drive to and from work that is half and hour of wasted time each way. You should just be able to walk out the door and be there. I am glad I don't work a full week because that would be more waste lol. Arh well nearly time to fetch the kids and welcome the weekend.

I think it's productive to ponder the D and M things in life from time to time. If you find any of the answers to life while you're doing it please share because then I can stop thinking about those questions.

I was horrified to realise how much time I spend mucking around. Imagine how much creativity could get done if I didnt spend so much time at the computer! Darn my time and motion study!

What a perfect photo of your new day...I see the sunrise every single morning and it's so quiet and peaceful at that time of day.

There is a lot in your post that strikes a chord- I know where the hours go when I am at work but when I get home, well, as the others have said it is a bit scary to try and analyse it-sometimes when I get the "I can't be bothered with..." feeling I usually switch off and do something which doesn't require too much thinking ( insert time wasting activities here rather than productive activities) but oh well tomorrow is another day!!! Have a great weekend- love the photos!

Yes. Definitely twins separated at birth. I'm the same with the thinking thing. It hadn't occurred to me though, but that is where most of my 168 hours goes I think!

I hear you loud and clear. I think sometimes though that we are too hard on ourselves. There's nothing wrong with being lazy, not being bothered and enjoying being horizontal for way longer than usual...LOL! You ponder Loz, ponder away my friend. I have found my sanity by joining the gym. I am there at 7.30am. very peaceful so I can sort through my thoughts while the sweat drips from my brow....LOL...looking forward to a smaller butt too. You take care of yourself, you are a beautiful soul :) looking forward to catching up with you this year.

I've been slapping myself in the face lately, realizing how many hours I waste each week, and realizing how much I could be getting done on the quilting front. But spend too much time in front of the computer and just dreaming away and frittering away my time. We do need down time after work, but I let it last too long.

Here's to wiser and productive use of our 168 hours!

Isn't interesting the different perspective you get when you quantify things. :-)

Talk about wasting time .... Im extremely guilty of wasting bucket loads of time and would hate to do the maths!!! Lol!! And you know what there is nothing wrong with having a case of the cant be bothereds and being a bit lazy and as I said it is the weather for it!!! Hope you have a good week and you know there is always next weekend to be productive!!! Maybe!!! Lol!! Cheers S x
