Transition complete!

This blog post has been rattling around in my head for a while now....but something happened the other night** which made me realise it was time to post it!

......Once upon a time there was a  Princess who lived happily in a small castle .........she had kissed many frogs in her lifetime........and had decided that living on her own was far better than living with a frog - however, another frog was wooing her - he was persistant and visited her regularly on his white charger (in this instance a white 4WD) and finally convinced her that he was a Prince and that if she let him come into her life they would live happily ever after.....so eventually she agreed......and he did turn into a Prince (as promised) and took on all the duties of the castle - he shopped/cooked/washed and ironed and looked after the Princess so well that she was the envy of all her friends.

Life in the small castle was good...but the Prince wanted to make it even better so he arranged for a new castle which he presented to the Princess as her birthday gift......he even put.a big pink ribbon on the gate that showed all her work colleagues that he was just the best Prince in the entire world.  .......And life was even better in the new castle where the Princess had her own sewing room and the Prince had a big garden that he looked after. (when he wasn't looking after the Princess of course!).....the sun shone on the happy couple for several years until one day the Princess discovered the Prince was visiting a Princess in the next county.  Clouds came into her life when the Prince declared his love for the new Princess and drove away in his white 4WD to live in her castle.

Rain settled in the "old" Princess's heart which grew heavy and cold as she packed up her belongings and the wonderful castle she had loved was sold.  She bought a smaller, newly built castle and moved in with her quilts and fabric stash.  She also bought a puppy to live with her - who bought some sunshine into the Princess's heart. Time passed and the sadness which had overwhelmed the Princess started to disappear......there was light and fun in her life again.....and gradually she came to terms with her new life and started to embrace it..she re-learned how to make decisions.....and even shopped and cooked occasionally.....she began to enjoy life again.....and eventually to sleep in the middle of the bed**!  Transition complete!

Epilogue:
The Princess doesn't hate the ex-Prince (who turned into his true self...[a horny toad - one step down from a frog]...soon after the discovery that he was parking his steed in another Princess's stable)......and she doesn't hate the new Princess - in fact she hopes they live happily ever after (and that the ex-Prince has grasped the concept of what  "ever after" actually means).

*no frogs have been harmed in the telling of this story

'Til next time....................Lorraine

Ahh, finally you have told the story! I guess that means that you are happier now because the telling of the story no longer has any power to hurt you. This is a good place to be Princess! Well done. Love you friend!

You forgot to say "And the rocking fabulous Princess (that would be you by the way ) lived happily ever after".

Im so glad you shared this post. Im fist pumping the air and screaming "You go Princess".

By the way the Prince is a dweeb , and doesnt know what he's missing. But that's his problem .

Ah, I love a happy ending to a good fairytale! Thank you for sharing the story (even if it had me giggling in some bits - parking his steed, indeed!) Princess Loz.

It took this princess a very long time to learn to sleep in the middle of the bed.
So pleased that you are feeling less hurt now. There is a happy life ahead you just have to embrace it and know that it's not necessarily what you had envisaged, and it might even be a whole lot better.

Woohoo, well said.Glad you are now a happy princess. I think you are being very generous towards Mr Toad and his new Princess. But I feel sorry for Miss New Princess because once a toad always a toad. And it wont be long before he is dipping his toes right back into pond scum where he probably belongs.

Ah Loz, I'm so pleased to hear the transition is complete. I now think you should be known as Queen Loz, in charge of your own castle and destiny plus that cute loyal subject Rose to cuddly when you need a cuddle and all your blog kingdom to lift your spirits when you need it. Love you Loz!
Hugs

Lorraine, you should write books!!
I am so thrilled to hear that the "real" princess is feeling as if she has reached a happy bend in her road and can now travel on, in her journey knowing that she is a wonderful person.

Good on you, Loz - for getting through it all with such grace and style and for telling the story and being able to smile about it. I'm so glad that you've reached a happy place - and that you have a lovely, faithful companion who will never let you down - and I hope things keep getting better and better.

I agree with all of the above comments!
Well done Queen Loz!

mmm..I think that a Princess is now a Queen of her castle (of her choice) with her royal highness Princess Rose (again her own choice) and living the life that she gets to choose (albeit with Queenly highs and jester lows along the way)..I'm happy that the Queen is ruling by herself as I may have never met her and became a friend without her taking those first Queenly steps by herself...take care of you...

I'm chuckling at your witty telling of the tale, but my heart aches for the suffering, the betrayal, the loss of dreams. From around the world, we extend hugs and best wishes to you Lorraine, to our friend across the miles. You've triumphed over adversity and you're proudly carrying on with one Prince Jerk gone from your life. Good riddance!
And give Rose an extra hug tonight. She's a girl's best friend.

You forgot the bit about the Irish Warrior king, who was so upset about the prince's behaviour that he laid siege to the prince's new castle. After many long years the prince tried to sneak out of the castle thinking he was now safe, but the irish warrior was a wise and patient foe and had bided his time and pounced on the prince challenging him to a battle of honour. After severely thrashing the prince, the warrior returned home in triumph satisfied that he had taught the prince a lesson, namely.. dont mess with his sis in law!. Now thats what I call a happy ending :-)

Cheryl said...

Damn Prince....sorry I couldn't resist. But nice to see there is a very happy ending!

Wow Lorraine what a beautiful writing of such a heart breaking situation. You will always be happy with such a positive attitude and humorous approach - in fact I am thinking of engaging you in my dream - writing children's books - we could be a great team. Can you do illustrations? Maybe we could base them around a patchwork theme! Beautiful patchwork also. Well done Lorraine - Your Aussie Day planning buddy Marg x
