A couple of finishes.........

Today was Ella's birthday party..........the quilt was delivered to her at the party.....

I haven't worked with these colours in a while and really enjoyed it......I had an RDO from work on Friday and spent the day quilting and binding the Ella's quilt. Although given that I technically finished stitching the binding at 2.30am on Saturday I guess I spent some of Saturday finishing it.  The weather has been cold and wet the past couple of days but I managed to get a pic of the quilt on the clothesline between showers.....

Look ....there was even a bit of sunshine!!  After the photo shoot it was off to stitching with the girls......great food ....lots of laughs....and.a fair amount of discussion about some of the ailments that afflict us as we age.  I even got some stitching done!  Then it was home via the supermarket for the weekly food shop ......was going to leave it until today but had run out of too many things...home for dinner and out again to a quiz night.....fun night with some friends from work....we didn't win but it's not all about winning is it?  Really.....????  hmmmm...the jury is still out on that one.... :)

I looked after Lexi this weekend while Mark and Terri had a night out to celbrate Terri's birthday......so she and Rose played all weekend.....of course as it was raining most of the time my floors are trashed.....oh well.....you get that.......I am sure they will be fine once I get around to washing them.......Lexi went home tonight after dinner and Rose is now catching up on some sleep!  It won't be long before I head off to catch up on my sleep...a couple of late nights would normally have been followed up with a sleep in....but the neighbours had a garage sale on Saturday morning so I was woken by the sound of car doors slamming from about 7.....and this morning it was an early morning call from Mum......and tomorrow is Monday AGAIN!!  so it will be back to work........no sleeping in on Mondays!

Between catching up with friends, the quiz night, birthday party and the usual round of housework I managed to finish this as well:

Really enjoyed this book....and from some comments received a lot of other people have as well.  I must say that I have loved getting back into reading ......... cheap escapism.......and great when you wake up at 3am and can't get back to sleep. Although I did have to be careful with this book that I didn't do some damage to my face if I fell asleep whilst reading!

Nice to get a couple of finishes this weekend......there has been no time spent on the computer though so haven't caught up with blogs or emails.  I am really tempted to start a new project but there are still a  couple of things I want to finish first........who knew - I have turned into a "finisher"  ...woo hoo.......

'Til next time........................Lorraine

Ella's quilt is so pretty...good job! I'll have to check out the new book too. Cold weather will be upon us in a few weeks and I'll need some new late night reading.

Beautiful quilt--great fabrics, love the back and the appliqued name. Sounds like you're enjoying life these days, glad you're getting out to play with friends. Finishing things is satisfying like nothing else!

I used to sell books and this was always a great seller. One of my regulars bought it when she was nursing her baby and said she only read it at night to help keep herself awake! Love your blog, Rose is a special favorite. Thanks.

Lovely post. Ella's quilt is beautiful, very clever with a design on the back. I read in bed every night and can relate to having to be careful not to fall asleep with a book that size!!!

A lovely quilt and some good finishing- I think I need to catch your 'finishing bug' - dogs and wet weather are not a good mix, but what would we do without them!

That quilt is gorgeous! I am back in the land of the living now. Haven't really touched a computer for over a week while I was in Adelaide helping Jess. Reading to fall asleep is a great idea (if the book isn't leathal obviously!) think I might get back to that this week!

That quilt is a beautiful, beautiful piece of work. You are so talented!! I see a lot of amazing quilts on the internet and yours are among the best.
I've added that book to my list of future reads. Luckily there's a libray within 10 minutes walk of my new flat. I'm moving on Friday and I'll be joining the library first thing Monday morning.

A finished quilt and book, life doesn't need to get much better than that. Love the quilt, bet Ella does too.

I'm totally in love with Ella's quilt, both the front and the back. It's a very special creation. The alternating strips with the birds are so interesting. They're unique--not the typical alternate strips with flowers or lines or paisley squiggles. Adorable!
