The best laid plans...........

Last Sunday as I lay in bed contemplating my day I decided that it would a day of stitching...yep....all day .........so I got up early and readied myself for a long day of stitching.......breakfast first......then I thought I should really do the breakfast dishes.........while the dishes were "soaking" I wiped down the kitchen bench......oh...there's that empty jug.... - I should get some flowers from the garden for that......so out the back with the snips.....hmmmm....a couple of bushes really could/should be cut back.....snip....snip.......oh...the flowers.....got them......back inside......messed around with the flowers for a while.....cleaned up the bits of foliage on the bench......

.......then wiped the cupboards down.....paw prints .....wonder how they got there???  .......well.......it just went on from there......some dusting.......re-arranging.......de-cluttering ......and all of a sudden it was lunch time.  Not a problem.....will sew after lunch....but wait......a little ball of fine dog hair caught my eye......it was rolling across the floor in the breeze......damn ....now I've seen it  I have to deal with it - out came the vacuum from the cupboard......and the floor really needs a wash......out with the mop.......hmmm.....If I put this bit of furniture over here it would look way better.......

.....and that good people is when it happened......."the injury".....the proof if you like that housework IS indeed a danger to one's health!  Did something to my back.....something muscular.....this has meant I have been in some pain since then ....not enough to prevent me from going to work but enough to make sitting and sewing at night (or in fact even sitting and doing nothing) unattractive to me.....and sleeping ...well.....that has been "interesting"....early nights......but being woken constantly by muscle spasms.....ouchie!! (or sooky sooky la la some would say!)

Now it's Friday and I am feeling much better...... hoping by the weekend I will be back (get it..."back") to normal and there will be NO housework done this weekend...oh ...ok....some but no moving of furniture......might even get some stitching done!

This blanket box was the culprit.........it's very old and very solid.........and one of my favourite things.....

It was under the quilt hanger here

.......but I thought it needed to be over the other side of the room.....It does look good there but next time I want to move it I will ask for help (will I really???)

My sister did suggest I needed a man in a glass cabinet....?? you know the one with "break glass in emergency" (or when you need help with shifting furniture)!

We have had a return to winter temps during the past week and some windy days saw the blossoms on the trees out the front of my house go from this......

to this........

Last Sunday wasn't a complete bust as far as stitching went...I did manage to make a start on the applique for the long term Basket quilt.......still some work on this block a few more flowers and a heart or two.....and some unpicking probably!  but I think it's going to be a fun quilt to work on .........

And confession time.......I have fallen off the "no buying" wagon.....oh ...perhaps that's how I injured myself??? More on that next time........right now it's time I was going to work!
Happy Friday!

'Til next time.................Lorraine

Ouch! Nothing worse than muscle spasms. You may benefit from some Physio or Bowen Therapy, have you tried that before? Also, use an ice pack on the area, never heat. I use Ice Gel (available in supermarkets) which is a gel like Deep Heat except it is freezing cold. Very soothing.
Above all, take it easy! I hope your back improves quickly.

PS: Very nice blanket box! And my word verification is 'cures' !

Well darn, you were on a roll. I love that blanket chest and yes, I would be scoot'n it around by myself too and hurt myself as well. hee, hee, hee.
Get better soon. Maybe more shopping will help. Yeah! That's it! ;)

Ohhh, so sorry you hurt your back. Muscle spasms are rough. Hard to do much when the back is hurting. I hope you heal quickly.

So glad your back is improving! I will be sure to share with my family just how dangerous housework is!!! Hope you are comfortable enough to do some stitching this weekend.

A sore back is no fun at all, glad it's feeling better now. A good way to move furniture if you are a singleton is to manouever it on to a thick mat (a towel will do in a pinch) and then you can pull it along, it slides quite nicely :)

Sorry about the back, my chiro says to put ice packs on sore back to remove inflamation but the remedial massage lady says to put heat so I don't know what to do half the time. Can't say I have done much stitching this week been running round with the kids a fair bit and have really sore eyes at the moment and stitching last was useless. Think I am heading back to the speck doctor soon for another eye test.

STOP CLEANING, LOZ! Don't do it. It's obviously bad for your health! Back pain is terrible... I'll join you in the sooky sooky la la complaining. Lovely box though!! And yes, maybe you should wait and get someone to move it for you... you have kids... make them come over and do it!! ;)

Sorry to hear about your back. I have planned to spring clean this weekend, I'll remind myself not to move furniture without help. It's amazing where stength comes from when your determined to move something yourself!

I knew it ......... nothing good comes out of cleaning LOl. Hope you are all better as it is the weekend and so I hope it is filled with lots of stitching.

I know exactly what you mean about sleep being uncomfortable when the back is going ouchie! I have a recurring back injury from 1986; sometimes I know what I've done to cause a spasm, mostly I have no freaking idea! Sometimes it "goes" while I'm asleep, all I have to do is roll over the wrong way or something, and I can barely get out of bed the next morning. Luckily it doesn't happen all that much, I'm still able to go to work. I find hot water bottles to relax the spasm helps me, also keeping the bed warm with the leccy blanket. Ice packs are useless for me, although others find them useful.

Sorry to hear about your back hopefully its feeling a bit better now.Nothing worse than to have to wait for someone else when you want something moved, have done the same myself. Not really worth the pain though.Your blanket box looks great there though and I like the scolloped edged quilt on top.

Silly Girl ...moving furniture on your own . It's a sure recipe for disaster. Hope you feel much much better for the weekend and get some major sewing/creating done.

That one thing leads to another nonsense eats up my weekends too!

Your blanket box is gorgeous. I wish I had room for one here!

Sorry to hear about your back. I prescribe complete rest, no more housework for you. You've got some serious fun to be had in less than a fortnight and we need you fit and healthy!
