Living on the edge................

Claire and I are living on the edge this weekend and have travelled to Port Pirie for a stitching  weekend at Country Hart with Gail and Natalie........I checked earlier and they had arrived in Adelaide with only minimal delay which was good given there have been a few disruptions to flights lately.

We are doing it tough..........just a few snacks to get us through........

If you look closely you might notice that someone else's snack came along as well......there is one packet we won't be opening this weekend! I am sure her carer this weekend will make sure she doesn't miss out ........

I managed to finish the baby quilt top I was working on last weekend......having said that ...it wasn't without some "issues".....nothing wrong with the pattern mind you....it was me!  I spent ages working out what fabrics I would use.....whether I would use a plain background with coloured "kites" or the reverse......made my decision...it would be a cream background with coloured kites......so I cut enough for about half the blocks and laid them out on the floor in the sewing room.......that was the weekend before last.......so last Saturday I set about cutting the rest of the blocks.......took all the pieces into the sewing room.....sat on the floor to start laying them out.....hmmm...that's not right.......I had of course cut plain kites and coloured background pieces.......muttering and cursing followed....Rose was shocked!!  Luckily I had enough (just) of the fabrics to re-cut the blocks....that will teach me to only cut half at a time.......this was the layout before I sewed the blocks together....

I wasn't quite finished by the time the kids came over for tea.....and I couldn't settle to anything else after I had watched the MotoGP so I sewed....until late........

I took it to work to show Jo (who will be taking it to Enlgand when she goes in a week or so) and didn't think to get a pic of it before I shipped it off to Val who kindly said she would quilt it for me ...even though she had just arrived back from her OS holiday.  Looking forward to getting it back, bound and handed over.

Not much else to report this week...no hexies were stitched.......I did start on my SSCS gift which is going to ..(can't say)..............somewhere in the world.  But that was the extent of my stitching this past week....I am sure I will make up for it over the next couple of days!  Just as well we are good at muti-skilling and can stitch AND talk at the same time.....!

Looking forward to catching up with Robyn, Gail and Natalie tomorrow.

Along with snacks we bought reading material..........Claire is using all her "hostess" (as in the Price is Right etc..) modelling "skills" here.......note also that Claire travels with her own pillow and quilt......

The marshmallows and some other goodies  are now missing from the snack pic above......Claire is a bad influence !!

'Til next time.....................Lorraine

And here I thought you were intentionally planning good dental hygiene with your Chew N Kleen snacks!

Your baby quilt is absolutely darling. Such pretty, fresh colors. I love it!

(Funny, but my word verification is "tobedis" as in "to bed is." Would that be as "to bed with a quilt?")
