Puppy Love.....and other stuff......

Another weekend is fast disappearing .....along with July.....August is just around the corner.....this year is flying!!  The kids are escaping London's summer weather (and the Olympics) and have headed over to Europe for a few weeks.......I am looking forward to lots of FB updates and pics so I can follow their progress. Nothing like living vicariously though your kids..  :)

Tonight sees the final stage of the Tour de France which means I can start going to bed a bit earlier!!  I have been working on Leanne Beasley's Sew Laugh Love over the past few weeks and it now just needs  the applique's sewn down, a couple of buttons and a border and it's done....

I am also sewing these Granny Squares when a get a few minutes...there is a heap of squares sitting on the sewing table and they sew up quickly......not enough to do anything with yet but I like them.....

During the week I decided to make some cupcakes....I didn't feel like it ....but really needed to......so dragged out the Mixmaster (vintage Mixmaster!) and started to get organised......plugged it in and "poof"......well it was more like a "zap" I guess and the circuit breaker kicked in and out went the power......thank goodness for circuit breakers!!  Would have hated to have been done in by a mixer while making cupcakes!! So the old Mixmaster is now an ornament!  I am hoping it may be fixable though......as until it is I won't be baking anything that needs a mixer!!  :(

Oh.....I did call this post "puppy love........" ....... yesterday I called in to have a cuppa with Rose's "parents".......they had visitors from Victoria who had arrived to pick up the last two puppies from their latest litter......two cuties who were out in the garden having a play with their Mum Lily...........

They reminded me of the puppies in the old Golden Book story Pokey Little Puppy..

Look at those faces!!!

As it turns out I will be seeing these two again from time to time.....their new owners live in lovely Ballarat and their new "mum" is a quilter so I  be calling in next time I am over that way.  Rose was very interested in where I had been when I arrived home.....!

Today I stocked up the freezer again and played domestic goddess.......washing, ironing etc.......*yawn*.......boring but necessary!

'Til next time............................Lorraine

I've enjoyed peeks at your delightful Leanne Beesley project. I have this one on my to do list and hope to order it very soon. I love it in all red - speaks to my heart. :-)

congrats on the stitchery Loz, It looks really good. I really like the granny squares, Do you think they would finish as neatly by cutting half square triangles for the last round, instead of wasting the cut off half square. One site i saw called for rectangles instead of squares to make sure the block would finish square. It seems a good way to use scraps.
Gosh that grey faced puppy is cute, almost persuade me to reneg on my resolve to have another dog.

Beautiful stitchery! Did the cupcake in the stitching get you started on the mixmaster?

Love the granny squares too. I've resisted that block so far but it has been hard!

Oh, puppies, who can't help but be smitten...

I don't do much embroidery, but I know wonderful work when I see it. LOVE this stitchery, Lorraine.

Oh dear -- yet another quilt to add to my must-make list. But this will be a welcomed addition. I love ones that can be made one block at a time, and then forget it for a while. Simple to make but impressive when finished. The granny squares should help empty my box of 2-1/2" squares.

Poky little puppies indeed! That one photo looks like a page out of the book.

My old mixmaster is still chugging away although the beaters copped a battering when my hubby caught a spatula in them. Love the stitchery in red, I'm doing the coloured version. Gorgeous puppies and will be great playmates for Rose, they'll wear her out for sure!

Well Ballarat has good patchwork shops! Hmm I am not a pet person (two kids is enough) but these puppies are very cute, enough for me to think that if we ever do get a dog, they look like a good breed...not to big! If you need to buy a new mixmaster I dont recommend another Sunbeam, havent been that thrilled with mine, its OK, just not fantastic. Mind you think Kenwoods are ALOT more $!
