Confined to barracks......

With the city pretty much closed down with the impending arrival of Sandy we have been confined to the hotel today.....this storm has caused massive destruction across the east coast of the States and we are fortunate to have a safe haven at the hotel.....we have taken over a section of the lobby and have stitched, knitted, cross stitched, emailed, Facebooked and Skyped our way through the day.....helped along with coffee and hot choccy ....we were waiting for the sun to be over the yardarm before we started on the cocktails but since there was no sun today we just had to wing it and start when we felt like it.....I am sure the sun was over the yardarm somewhere in the world when we started!

I feel for those who have been affected by this hurricane.....the damage has been dreadful and we are indeed fortunate to have a safe place to stay and be safe. The Hotel staff have been excellent and have kept us informed of the progress of Sandy.

Here is the group in our little corner of the lobby......

dinner time.........

Lea was working on her cross stitch and having trouble with the light so donned her headlamp ......hmmmmmmm

Just watching updates on the local news and it's dreadful to see the damage this storm is wreaking.....my heart goes out to all those affected....

' til next time..............Lorraine

Something to tell the grand kids, how nanna had to hole up in a hotel sipping cocktails while the storm raged! Stay safe,

Hunkering down with stitchy friends sure eases the worry, no doubt! My daughter's best friend lives on Manhattan and evacuated to her boyfriend's place in Brooklyn...not sure that was much better but at least she was with someone she loved!
