Look what the wind blew in.....

.....here we are after a hard afternoon of sightseeing in Washington DC....cider all round at the Irish pub up the road from the hotel........the "wind" reference is for Hurricane Sandy which is expected to pretty much shut the city down tomorrow......the metro and buses won't be running and government buildings will be closed.......so it will mean a forced rest day for us - stitching in the lobby sounds like a plan!

But to go back a few days.......after leaving New York we headed to Lancaster County ...beautiful countryside......and some lovely shops......plenty of quilts to look at.......Here are a few random pics of our stay there......

There are many more.....the camera has run hot.....but will save some for another time! We are preparing for Sandy to hit this area later tonight/tomorrow....we have fudge and choccy covered pretzels so should be ok food wise! The Metro and all buses will not operate tomorrow so we made the most of today's weather and went sightseeing as soon as we arrived today.....walked miles!! walking is the best way to see a place by far. Stopped in to a little bar on the way back to the Metro this afternoon.....

Mojito anyone?

Don't you just love the porta-loos lined up in front of the Washington Monument???

So....with all the walking and a couple of drinks I am ready for an earlier night than usual! Oh....oops...that hasn't happened .....second wind! LOL. Having the best time and enjoying having Cardy as my room /travelling mate.....!

Til next time..............Lorraine

Stay safe girls. Sounds like this storm is going to be a doozie. LOVE your plan of staying in and stitching ( I think a few cocktails will also be called for !)

I'm so enjoying seeing the USA thru your lens. Be safe tomorrow, hopefully Sandy will be nothing more than a little breeze.
