Suddenly it's late.....

Not sure about anyone else...but I tend to stay up way too late most nights.... I get home from work...organise dinner then get into some stitching and well...suddenly it's late!  I know I should go to bed earlier but it seems like such a waste of good stitching time...every now and then it all catches up and I have an early night..but not often.  Tonight was a case in point.....sat down to watch MKR and started stitching (working on a Natalie Bird EPP pattern) and a couple of cups of tea and a few programs later and I am watching Pretty Woman (for the second time in as many weeks) and as Julia Roberts is rescued from her "tower" by Richard Gere I finish stitching lots of 1" six pointed stars together to make the centre of the table runner.....pretty happy with that!......and yes....it's now late (again!).

Here is the project at the start of the evening......I like the way this is coming along!

Not only is it suddenly late....it's suddenly almost Thursday.....(and by the time i finish writing this post it WILL be Thursday) ...I was going to write this post on the weekend (which was a long one) but got sidetracked......On Saturday when I got up I decided it was a nice day for a drive so got myself organised and drove to Port Pirie (a couple of hours away) to visit with Robyn at Country Hart - I got to the shop ten minutes before closing because I had faffed around at home too long....luckily Robyn wasn't in a hurry to close so I got to spend some time browsing and catching up.  Robyn has just released her first book and was happy to pose with a copy....

Here are a few pics from the shop.....lots of lovely temptations!

It was a very hot and humid day.......and on the way home I couldn't resist stopping to get a few pics .......

It's been very hot and dry this summer and the land is looking like it needs a good drink.....certainly gives credence to the term "wide brown land".......

I  love to get out on the open road and with a quilt shop as the destination it's never a hardship to plan a trip to Pirie......this trip was a spur of the moment thing......that's mostly how I roll  on weekends....I have to plan and be very organised at work so it's nice not to have too much structure on weekends.

Lexi has been staying with Rose and I for the past week and the girls have been having a ball......they always love spending time together and now they are older they aren't quite so rambunctious....well they are...but for shorter periods of time.....they will both be three in about a month!   How time flies!  I skyped with Mark and Terri on Sunday night and they were happy to see Lex....she was looking behind the iPad to see where they were when she heard their voices....here are the girls waiting for me to get sick of being in my sewing room and come and spend some time with them.....

Look at this face......

With the very hot weather walks have been limited to early mornings before work...I managed to fob them off on the weekend with "c'mon girls...its the weekend..back to bed" but they just didn't get the concept of a public holiday so Monday morning  I gave up and we were up before the sun for our walk.  It's a habit now to walk every weekday morning and Rose is at my bedside just before the alarm goes off all set for getting out and about.....

Sunday and Monday I did some house "stuff" but managed to fit in quite a bit of time in the sewing room.....I had prepped all the blocks for the Love BOM by Natalie Bird during the week....had all the pieces cut and ready to stitch....ready.......set.........

sew........

Lots of scraps on the floor......

The borders are now on but it's too late to get a pic tonight......

so that was my long weekend.....a nice drive in the country, a visit  to a quilt shop which included a bit of retail therapy of course....some stitching and a couple of nanna naps...doesn't get much better than that  - well I don't think so anyway!  This weekend will include a stitching day with the girls....will Mrs Billings be finished? What sugary treats will Shay bring? watch this space!

'Til next time...........................Lorraine

Lovely stars and hexies, and your prepped pieces turned into absolutely beautiful blocks! Lots of other kinds of pretties at the quilt shop stop. Hard to resist, right? It's shaping up to be a hot and dry summer here too. Starting tomorrow I'll be up before the sun to go to work--but my poor dog doesn't get a walk before I leave :)

A perfect long weekend. Lovely to see pictures of the SA countryside, it is so dry and bare everywhere this summer. Love your new project!

Hmmm I have made lots of stars (but 2") and just realised that perhaps I am putting them together the wrong way...so thanks for the picture, it was worth a 1,000 words! Love those colours by the way.
Just realised we have never gone to Pt Pirie after six years of living in Adelaide....wonder if I can kid DH into a weekend drive! Definately a Easter road trip, cos that fabric collection is very impressive and I want some!
Loving your quilt top with the stitchery, particularly the pieced borders, can we have a close up next time please, I was trying to work out where you put the seams!!!

There is definitely something about those evening hours, they do pass so quickly. Yours have been very productive though. Your stars look great, especially the fussy cutting. The Love BOM has tempted me, it looks good all together. I am an early morning walker too, it just gets the day off to a good start.

I get the waaay late thing. I tend to do that too, but unsatisfyingly, it's not stitching keeping me up! All your stitching is beautiful. I was up late last night chatting to Jess. I am in Adelaide. Funeral yesterday. Helping Jess clean the old house today. Then on a plane tonight, arriving in Melbourne just before midnight. Another late night!

Love love love it all. Love your hexies. Love your quilt. Good job. I need motivation. I tend to sit at night watching MKR & mean to stitch but it never happens & before I know it, it's bedtime. I don't have good lighting either which puts me off. But I need to do this 15mins a day thing at least. So many UFO's.

Such beautiful pictures of the landscape .. Wow! and the dogs are cute too. and the stars and hexies. The time does slip away doesn't it.. I'm always staying up too late and regretting it the next day.

I've been staying up late also lately it is probably the reason I can't shake this ear infection but I figure if I go to bed late I it is less time I am tossing and turning

I stay up way too late in week nights too. I really mean to get to bed by 10.30 but it never happens. How great Robyn has a book. I know someone famous! I haven't been to Pirie since November. Must try again one day. I did get to Hetties on Saturday. Always worth trying to get a park on port road! So happy for the cold change.
