Okay....time to 'fess up..

When you get to my age sometimes it's the small things in life that are exciting.......in this case it's having something done that I have wanted to do for ages...and no...it's not a tattoo!

A while ago now I got some quotes for having the front and back gardens re-done....and after I picked myself up off the ground at the quote I thought about it and decided to go ahead with it.....and the landscaper is a guy which is where the "male of the species" comes into it......so no....no more puppies, no falling in love or getting married....just a new garden!

Well I think it's exciting anyway.

Rose not so much.....she has had to stay with friends for a few days while this.......

was turned into this........

and out the front....this....

ended up after the first day like this.....

all of that destruction involved the use of boy toys like the Dingo pictured here....

Given that it also involved open gates and garage doors it was also much safer for Rose to be out of the picture (so to speak) until this work was done so she is having a holiday with Lexi.   Hopefully there will be some planting done today so it will look a little less like a moonscape!  The plants in the front garden died off in summer even with watering and TLC and after looking at digging them all out and replanting I thought I would seek the help of a professional. The plants in the back garden were way too big for the small space and just made it look even smaller - the grass/lawn was also very invasive and it was hard to keep it out of areas it didn't belong.....shame it didn't grow so well and so vigorously where it was supposed to!  So the new grass that is going in should be better behaved I hope and the plantings will be more in keeping with the space provided.

So that is it ...my exciting news that involved a male of the species!   I know....bit of a let down for you....but still exciting for me :)

Yesterday was ANZAC day and I started the day at our local dawn service - record numbers attended and as usual it was a moving tribute to all those who have served and are serving today.  Mark and Terri travelled from London to Turkey to spend ANZAC day at Gallipoli and I am sure they found it a very emotional experience.

Time to get stuck into some stitching now....I am working on the border of the Bonnie Sullivan table runner and loving the way it is coming along.  I also hoping to get into the sewing room this weekend and play.

'Til next time...........................Lorraine

Hired help of the male variety sounds like a perfect relationship to me, he does all the hard work and doesn't expect you know what for doing something around the home! Can't wait to see it finished, good luck!

Good for you...when your new garden is established you will be too busy enjoying it to worry about the cost. Rose will enjoy the dirt in the meantime!

It's going to look fabulous when it's done . At the moment it looks exactly like my garden (and I dont have imminent plans to do anything to mine !)

Hey as a creative quilter I can appreciate the joy in a new garden. Its deciding what goes where and how big it will get, does it look right combined together that is beyond me, so getting an expert opinion is money well spent. Looking forward to seeing the end result.

This will be fun to follow. Sounds like Rose is in a smart, safe spot.
Unfortunately, I have a live-in male (AKA husband) who considers himself a landscaper when it suits him. He never asks my advice but just digs up or trims off whatever doesn't please him that particular day. And little is done to replace what was taken away. Empty spots, bare dirt, tree trunks with missing branches. Yuk!! I'm ready to hire someone to come in and do what I want. I'll be watching your progress with interest and envy :)
