Winter is here!

Winter arrived - heralded in with two days of rain....just what we needed as it has been very dry here.  It also gave me a chance to get some use out of my M&M umbrella purchased in NY last year and not used yet!!....it came in very handy standing in the rain watching one of the boys play football yesterday!

Friday afternoon I drove to Adelaide to spend the weekend with this girl.......

we were going to watch one of the grandies play soccer yesterday morning but the game was cancelled so Rhi went to the gym and I went to watch one of the older boys play football for his school......after the game Rhi and I met up and went here - Hetties!!  I haven't been in ages and I wasn't disappointed.....fabulous range of fabric and it was good to catch up with Leanne and Lorraine.  There was actually a reason for going......not just to look and chat but to choose some fabric for a quilt for Rhi........I bought the pattern at the Melbourne show a few weeks ago and want to make it up for Rhi's birthday coming up later in the year.......at first she was hesitant with choosing fabrics but after a while she was zipping around the shop putting bolts of fabric together like an old hand.......this is what she came up with.....they are a little brighter IRL and I think they will look great......and Rhi was happy and that's the main thing!

I also found this great wool pack.......I have ordered some Bonnie Sullivan patterns and these pieces will help build up what is a very mediocre wool stash! I love these!

Shopping always gives you an appetite so we stopped off for a late lunch in Glenelg and checked out a couple of home ware shops that Rhi likes to visit......and being this close to the beach we had to stop there as well.........I love the beach in winter!  We had fun taking some pics and taking in the fresh sea air!

By this morning the rain had stopped and we were up early and out to watch two of my grandsons play football.....here they are after the game......Taya makes it his business not to smile in photos .......and that's his prerogative...  Jonah on the other hand is happy to oblige with a smile.........

Love the little Saint on their socks.......and look at those knees....nothing like playing in the mud to make boys happy!

Rhi and big brother Shane with the boys.....almost a half smile there Tay!

I did take some hand stitching with me to do while I was at Rhi's......and finished off this Natalie Bird stitchery......

Always lovely to catch up with the kids and grandies........I came home this afternoon and have crammed the house work into a few hours and finished another row on the blue and white quilt..truth be known it was all but done - I just had to make two more blocks and sew it to the rows already completed.  Next weekend is a long weekend so I am hoping to get a lot more done on that quilt so I can start on Rhiannon's birds!   It's been a fun weekend which has gone all too quickly.....work shirts for the week need ironing before I settle in for some hand stitching and the MotoGP from Italy.

'til next time.....................Lorraine

My goodness you know how to fit a lot into the weekend......very inspiring! Rhi's quilt will be gorgeous, she has chosen great fabrics for it, love the birds. I like the beach in winter too, it clears out the cobwebs.

Love that umbrella. You’ll be easily identifiable in a crowd (and probably from space since it's so bright )

Rhi looks frozen in that first shot. She (and you ) did good picking fabrics for that quilt. Isn’t Hetties the best place in the world? Or worst depending on how much damage you do to your credit card when you’re there!

Your grandies are wonderful looking little men. How cool to spend time with them!

Sounds like the best weekend, catching up with kids, grand kids and Hetties! I went to Adelaide Saturday afternoon, drove through the heaviest of the rain. Was a bit scary for a few kms. No Hetties for me though. I took the kids on my own and we visited my cousin who had her first baby a week ago.

Wonderful family time mixed with outings, stitching, eating, and catching up on all the latest news. Sounds heavenly! Love your finished stitchery and can't wait to see what you do with all those yummy wools. Rhi's choices "SING". (You knew I couldn't resist that)
