The suitcases are back.......

...and so are Rhi and Wade!  I am catching up with them on the weekend  and can't wait to hear all about their trip.  They loved their three weeks in the States and are already talking about "next time"!  They arrived home on Sunday afternoon and were back at work yesterday....a great effort I think!

I bragged in a previous post about having made half the blocks for #2 quilt I was making.....I was stopped in my tracks during the week with the re-appearance of the neck/shoulder pain that seems to dog me from time to time...so no stitching after work this past week.  Saturday it seemed to have calmed down enough for me to sit at the machine and finish the remaining 15 blocks for the quilt and Sunday I started to lay them out ready to sew the rows together....hmmmm....it turns out that there was indeed a correct way to sew the blocks together......I had been doing them randomly and half of them were wrong...that will teach me to read instructions more closely!...so some reverse sewing ensued....there is of course a "glass half full" approach to this as well....it could have been ALL the blocks that were put together the wrong way.....so later (much later than anticpated!) I eventually had the top together and ready to send to Val for quilting.

So that was my weekend pretty much - throw in some vacuuming and a bit of shifting of dust from one surface to another, some washing and ironing (oh wait....there was no ironing!) and that was the much it!

I was very pleased to get the top done and will be even more pleased when it is back and I can bind it and get it off to it's recipient.  I have #1 quilt back and ready to bind....I found some backing fabric that had all the colours from the blocks so decided to go with that.....the look I was aiming for was bright and cheerful, and I think I have achieved that!

Quilted with hearts to reflect the love everyone has for this little girl...I hope it will go a little way to brightening her days....the top I finished on the weekend will go to her sister when it's done......

and the quilt for Rhi's friend is also back and ready to bind.....more hearts for another little one........

Gotta love some red stripy binding......it's now all stitched on and I will be hand stitching it down ready to hand it over on the weekend....

Not much else going on here.....the weather is nasty, wild and windy but thankfully we haven't had the heat and bushfires  being endured in New South Wales.

I will leave you with this pic of three very tough sweet pea flowers!

I love sweet peas - I didn't plant any this year as the garden was about to be re-vamped - a couple of self seeded plants appeared and have thrived on neglect - they didn't have anything to climb on so just lay prone on the ground.....and have even produced a few flowers!  Very hardy indeed!

Back to stitching some binding down!

'Til next time..................Lorraine

You've been busy, even with a sore shoulder. Lovely bright quilt, and the quilting finishes them off perfectly.
