From vines to the sea.........

The first week of holidays has flown by! :( Monday was a public holiday so it seemed like Sunday all day...Tuesday was taken up with appointments....Wednesday I was like a pinball bouncing around the house from one thing to another....getting seriously sidetracked from the task at hand which was packing to drive to Victoria for a stitching weekend with Gum Valley Patchwork.....i decided to break the trip up over two days this time as I find I still get tired if I overdo things.....I did focus enough to throw some clothes in a case and sort out some stitching projects and leaving Mark in charge of the household I headed off yesterday morning - with an overnight stop at Penola.....the motel was lovely and I set up to do a bit of stitching outside my room...

This morning the drive was relatively short...crossing the border in to Victoria and calling in to visit Lise.....two years ago I first met this girl when we decided to do a road trip to Nundle...I drove to Hamilton ...we picked up Tracey and off we set....Tracey wedged into the back seat amongst all our gear stitching like a mad woman and Lise and I in the front.....we had a ball! I haven't had a chance to catch up with Lise since then - but when I arrived at her house this morning we picked up right where we left off.....I don't think either of us drew breath for the next two hours! Fantastic to see her!!

She did say she was hungry....it took us a while to get through our meals with all the talking we were doing...so much to catch up on!

Next stop.....Nullawarre to visit Lenora at Elm Grove patchwork.......a few pics from the drive.....it was quite surreal driving through this wind farm with some of the turbines quite close to the road.....

My helpful mavigation aid which has the loveliest English accent (female of course, because we all know men never ask for directions so not sure I want one giving directions!!) always likes to take back roads so I get to see lots of the countryside....I zig zagged through the farms along the great Ocean Road and arrived at Elm Grove in time to do a bit of shopping....if you get the chance pop in and see Lenora....

Next stop, Port Campbell for the weekend...with Linda from Gum valley patchwork and 37 other ladies! Love this place! Took a walk before dinner......

I am sure there will be more pics over the next few days as we take over the surf club. I think I packed enough projects to last me several weekends!!!

'Til next time............Lorraine

I hope you have a great weekend, I would have loved to be there too, but have other commitments this weekend. Looking at your pictures made me nostalgic as it appears you did the same walking as I did when I was there for the September Stitch by the Sea.

Ahhhh Penola...haven't been there since I moved away from the Mount. Such a picturesque place.
