Ugly fabric swap......

I sent this fabric to Sue in the FIS ugly fabric swap......(and I must admit to a twinge of guilt in doing so.....I would have been at a loss to do something with it, which is probably why it has languished in the forgotten fat quarter basket for so long......I have no idea where it even came from......) the challenge was to make a mini using the fabric and send it back to your partner.......

So I was most curious when Sue's parcel arrived last week....opening day was Friday so I had to wait a couple of days.....

..and it was worth the wait.......Sue utilised the paper piecing technique which I have never been able to get my head around...baskets, dollies and a sewing machine.....

....it also came with a sweet hanger and cute note book....... thanks Sue...I love it.....

This is the fabric Sue sent to me....
.

.....and since I am challenged sometimes to remember to do things....I forgot to take a pic of my mini before I posted it....so this pic is courtesy of Sue's blog....

I enjoyed this swap, and it also served to get some stitching mojo back in order to make the deadline!

I think I have become a little bit addicted to walking!  This week as well as taking part in the Walk a Mile in My Boots charity walk to raise money for the Hutt Street Centre - an organisation aiding South Australia's homeless and vulnerable - I have walked to work twice as well as my usual 4km before-work walk.......Rose does get a bit confused when I put my walking shoes on and leave her home when I walk to work though.  This morning I changed the walking route a little to take in the linear park near here........the sun was out for a change .......which made the walk even more enjoyable....

Rose thought she should check out the local wildlife.....

Plenty of places to sit and take in the view if you were so inclined....

Bridges......

"stepping stone" crossings......

and gum trees galore......

this flood wall follows along the river bank and is a recent addition.....

Senior citizen home units line a section of the walk....and I wouldn't mind looking at this view out to the hills every day....

Heavy rain saw this part of the track closed closed until recently......still quite a bit of debris on the walkway......

Always nice to walk another route for a change of scenery....

so, back home to take care of the usual household chores and a bit of cooking for the week ahead......and even a little time in the sewing room!  These pot holders are for a friend from work......the binding will be done tonight in front of the TV.

.......and so another weekend comes to a close. They do fly by!

'til next time............................Lorraine

That fabric was a challenge! So cute with the dolls and sewing machine. Paper piecing isn't my forte either :). Glad your walks have been so pleasurable, thanks for taking us along. Cute potholders!

You both managed to make silk pursues out of the proverbial sow ears ! Love what you both came up with ...those fabrics sure dont fit the ugly profile now.

Yep- you’re addicted to walking alright. I take my hat off to anyone who walks to work ! It’s all I can do to get in the car and drive there .
