July!

Gosh....who knew it's over a month since I blogged....not sure what I have been doing that has kept me from writing a post....and thanks to my sister for checking on me and prompting a new post......

So we are a little the summer side of mid winter and we had two days last week with temps in the very low 20's....and now it is back to winter - which to be honest suits me just fine!  I have probably said it many times before, but I do prefer winter to summer!

Anyhoo.........what's been going on at Chez Loz.....a bit of hand stitching in the evenings and a couple of weekends ago I put together this double gauze quilt which I love!  It was a bit of an experiment....double gauze front and back with high loft cotton batting in between.... hand quilted with perle thread over a weekend (Tour de France certainly helps!) with the binding going on the next weekend....I wasn't sure if it would shrink much...and was surprised with how little it did ......a few pics of the work in progress....

the high loft cotton batting was just beautiful to work with....I purchased a few metres of it from the Patchwork Pear in Port Lincoln.....I need more of it so will have to do another road trip soon! (It's about 7 hours by car though, so not one I make very often.....)

...and in use.....very washed out pic...it was getting a bit dark for taking indoor shots....

Love this shot of Rhiannon taken when we were in Tumby Bay in June.....

Some random winter garden pics.....I haven't taken a lot of photos lately - I tend to get the odd one on my phone on our morning walks and post occasionally on IG - must get out more with the camera!

Went on a little road trip with a friend a few weeks ago.....to visit Nay at Waikerie.....it involved crossing the river on the ferry......something a bit different for Claire and I......

the Riverland is well known for it's oranges.......certainly colourful on a dull winters day.....

Found these in the garden the other day....Jonquils I think......bought some inside before they got battered to the ground by the wind and rain.....Daffodils are starting to appear in gardens.....

Changed around some of the furniture last weekend .......

....and remembered I hadn't included this little guy in a blog post.....He is very cute...and warmer now with his little jumper which a girl from work( with way more knitting skills than I) made for him.....must get his pants done one day! He is Oliver - he comes with his friend Anna in a pattern by ak traditions I bought from Cutting Cloth last year.......

I would definitely like to do more garment sewing and i bought this pattern on-line to maybe do just that!  I have seen loads of the Lottie patterns made up on IG which always gives one inspiration!

This kit was one I bought on my road trip to Tumby Bay and Port Lincoln in June.....from Ruby and Kate....gorgeous store!!! Certainly worth a visit if you are in the area.

Anyone who knows me may also know that I don't follow either of the Adelaide football teams, preferring one from Victoria with black and white colours (don't judge me now...) A friend's daughter however is a huge fan of the Adelaide Crows...we fly as one and all that.....so I whipped up a polar fleece rug for her birthday....very easy to do and she loves it.

so I will leave you with something I learned yesterday.......It is said you learn something every day - and yesterday I learned that there is a magnet on the end of the Bernina...perfect for the Tula Pink snips!.....probably something everyone else knew.....but it was news to me!

So that's about it from me for now.....keep warm or cool depending on where you live in the world.....'til next time............Lorraine

Well, I didn't know that about my Bernina! Will give it a try tonight. You're making some beautiful goodies and having such a busy time - it's wonderful.
