Buttons and a finish.........

Last week I bought a tin of buttons on ebay.......thanks to my sister Kate (no blog) who alerted me to a couple of things she thought I might be interested in........I have bought some honey pots previously but I don't spend a lot of time looking on the internet for things to buy.....well not on ebay anyway.....just couldn't resist the buttons.....the box arrived in the post yesterday and tonight was the first chance I had to sort thru and have a good look at them......here are a few that caught my eye ....some really interesting buttons in this lot and a couple of cards of old white ones which don't show up very well here.....there were four really fabulous black and white ones which will have to find a home on something....perhaps on Mark's quilt................

The tin itself is great so I was very pleased with my button buy...........(and I didn't even get much of a ribbing from my boss and the Prince!)....."you bought WHAT....WHY??"

................Of course they aren't the only buttons in my sewing room....LOL....................there are a few others ......(I love the old horseradish jar!!)..... I think there are more jars somewhere.............! I don't think I have a problem...............................do I??????

You just never know when you might need a button! LOL...........

I have also managed to finish the binding on my little Cinderberry Stitches quilt.....so #3 in Peg's challenge is done and dusted......Woo Hoo!!.......

I heard from Leanne today that she had received the requirements for the Loxton weekend....so hopefully mine will be in the post tomorrow.......I am sure I will be able to scrounge a couple of bits of fabric to take with me....but which ones???? I have trouble making up my mind sometimes....since I am travelling up on my own I will have plenty of room to pack the Jazz with fabric......well just in case.....you have to be prepared............prepared for the fact I won't be able to make my mind up there either!!!

Hopefully my machine will be back by then....I had a call from the technician to say that he would have to take the motor out and maybe replace the bearings.....I have done a lot of sewing in the last ten years so I won't begrudge spending a bit to get the Pfaff up and running smoothly again......I am also buying another bobbin case to use when I am free motion quilting to save having to change the tension each time...the technician is going to set it up for me so when I want to machine quilt I just have to change over the whole bobbin case and presto.....job's done! Thanks Cheryl (no blog) owner of many machines for that little tip!

I have found the pattern I want to make for the cupcake swap so would like to make a start on that in the next couple of nights....big week at work next week so won't get much done then......I will post a couple of sneak peeks as I get things done for the swap........Linda was hinting on her blog of another swap so I will be watching out for the details of that.......Kerry has the info on her Christmas in July - online "stitch-in" ....a couple of interesting projects - so hop on over and take a look..........

I saw the Dolly Quilts from Material Obsession on Maree's site and the red dots got me in.......I have also heard good things about the pin cushion of the month here................

An update on Miss Milly...................she is still up in the air I think.........Hopefully I will hear and will be able to let you know that the bunny has landed......but I hate to admit it.....forgot to put air holes in the bag......so she may be a little short of breath when she gets to where she is going.....I hope I put the right address on the package.........!

To Sharon who is heading off to Sisters....I am jealous........I'm just sayin......LOL..........a visit to Sisters is on my "bucket list".....one day I hope to get there.....lots of photos please.......

Kim has been exploring the myth of the empty nest syndrome...we have decided it is just that - a myth......!....now she is busy binding not blogging....

Rosalie is giving away a set of patterns for her new redwork Christmas quilt....but be quick I think the winner will be drawn tomorrow.....Judging by the number of comments most people have already been there!!

Time I was having a cuppa........hope everyone is having a great week......I am.......!

'Til next time........Lorraine

Hey Lorraine! Ooooooh! BUTTONS! I loooooove buttons, especially in a tin like that! One of my favourite childhood memories is playing with a bottle full of buttons on the floor while Mum sewed and my own collection just keeps growing, because, as you say, you just never known when you'll need something different!! Bear Hugs! KRIS (Tag Along Teddies)

I love buttons to.... we can always bequeath them to our children that's how I got a lot of mine... I can just see Gemma's face when I tell her that. LOL

I love buttons too, though I don't think my collection is quite as large as yours! I think it stems from playing in Grans button tin as a child, I loved all the colours, and the feel of them inbetween my fingers, they were just fun to play with.

Your quilt is beautiful, I'll swap you, the quilt for a tin of buttons. Haha.
