Little finishes.....big satisfaction factor!

Today was a day of little steps.......you know the day you do that little job that has been sitting there a while.....like taking the pin out of the journal cover I made the other week and stitching the buckle on........I also have a pincushion that I really like but the filling - not sure what it is (or was!)...made the pins rust.....so I haven't been using it.....and have been meaning to take out the filling and replace it ......so today I did it...probably took all of fifteen minutes.....!! and now it is usable again!

.....anyone know what this is?

...........something I haven't seen in a while.....the carpet on the floor of my sewing room......! The clean up in there wasn't one of the "little finishes" I have to say.....it took the best part of the day to pick up, tidy up, vacuum and dust.......but it is oh so nice to stitch in a tidy area!

I have been working on some little Christmas stitcheries over the past couple of nights and they will become part of bigger Christmas projects.......they are from a pattern by Leanne Beasley......

......they are quite addictive to stitch and I plan to make a few more......Twelve Red Robins is finished and I am trying to find just the right fabric to use for the four patch units above and below the stitchery sections.......you would think that would be easy......but it has taken me ages and I am still not happy with my selection....and it can't be because I haven't got enough fabrics to choose from......!! LOL........

Last but not least on my list of achievements today was getting this little mug mat cut out and ready to applique.......Pat sent me the pattern and a little starter kit of wool a while ago and it has been sitting there on the table in my sewing room waiting ..... waiting........so today was the day........

I think working with wool will be something I will do more of!! I love this little pattern! Thank you Pat!!

If I don't get to stitch it tonight I plan to take it with me tomorrow to stitch while I am waiting.......yes....my turn to do some waiting ...........! Late tomorrow afternooon there will be baby news!! I was going to take the whole day off work but will go in in the morning and get a couple of hours done before we leave for the city........I won't be able to settle to anything here so might as well go to work where I have to settle!! LOL.......I will post news when we get back on Wednesday! If the scans were right we will be welcoming a baby girl to our family - if the scans were wrong.....well another little boy will be just as welcome!

'Til next time......Lorraine

Fun following your progress, Lorraine. I'm enjoying looking at your cupcake quilts daily! I understand what you mean about little things, it's amazing how long a pair of pants to be hemmed can hang on the back of my sewing chair, or how long it takes me to finish binding a quilt that has been quilted for months.

I like your new blog banner!

I love the carpet, funny I found some of mine yesterday also and it is not the same colour I remember?? The christmas stitcheries look fantastic, I managed to comlete one on my recent holiday and am pleased that I have made a start on them this far out. Happy stitching while waiting for the baby.

Hey Lorraine! Back from two weeks at the beach and catching up with my bloggy friends! Am envious of your day of 'little finishes'. I too have a loooooooong list of jobs that really won't take that long - once I get motivated to start them! Oops! One day - probably the same day I get around to tidying the sewing room!! Tee! Hee! Hee! Hope all goes according to plan tomorrow as you welcome your new little angel into the world - blessings and bear hugs to all concerned! KRIS (Tag Along Teddies)

I love days like that, just getting a few small jobs done gives such a sense of satisfaction, wonderful, and as for a big clean up...even better. Have fun in your tidy sewing room.
