So I got to putting it all together and thought the blue stood out a bit........not the best photo in the world but you can probably see what I mean (or not...LOL)......so I unpicked all the blue bits (except some of the little 2" squares)....
....and replaced them with a pink dot........which i think gave a better overall effect.......
However.........if I was to make this quilt again I would use pretty much all larger prints to give a more muted watercolour effect.......the finished top looks a bit "patchy" to me......but maybe I have looked at it too long and too hard? I finished it off with a little stripe border and that will be it.....I am not really that happy with it but it isn't meant to be an heirloom and it will be a nice quilt for Ryley to snuggle under for a while until I make her another one! ......and it was fun to do!........!
My next project is a quilt for Dylan.....I have collected the fabrics and just need to put it together......His dad is in the earthmoving business and Dylan loves the machinery so when I found this fabric it was a "must have" for Dylan's quilt! there is quite a large centre panel with border and coordinating fabrics so it should go together quite quickly.........
In my spare time.....LOL.....I will be working on this.........Viv's 12 Days of Christmas stitchery....and yes....it is for this Christmas.......so I had better get started! I traced it off last night and it took me a movie and a bit to do it.......with some breaks in between! Then I sorted all the threads and got them ready so I am all set to stitch!........
Not much else going on.......I joined the gym the other day to try and kick start my energy levels.....and get motivated to exercise more.....and if I eat a bit less it may even transfer into some weight being lost.......and I won't be looking for it if I do lose some!! So I have been toddling off to the gym for the past few mornings.....I like the quick 30 minute work out....home...shower......breakfast and off to work by 8.30.....bit of a rush but I prefer the mornings to after work.....I am usually tired by the end of the day and it would probably be too easy to use that as an excuse not to go!! I figure any exercise is better than none......and I was heading down the "no exercise" path.......no energy....no exercise....more weight...even less energy.......!! and so it went........! so wish me luck!!
Best be getting back into the sewing room if I want to get Dylan's quilt started........
Have a great week.....'til next time........................Lorraine

Oh I wish you all the luck in your new life!!!
And I do love little Ryley´s quilt...all pink and beautiful...and you did right to exchange the blue ones... Good luck with Dylans quilt...
And wow that stitchery is absolutely wonderful!!!! Just need to have that one!! :o) Good luck with that one too!!
Hey Loraine! Wow! You have been a busy beaver in your sewing room! Even though I think Ryley's quilt is great as is, you could always applique a few simple daisies in a couple of the stronger colours to echo the flowers in the pretty print you've used - might break up all that pink! Can you tell I'm not a big fan of just pink?! Tee! Hee! Hee! Having suggested that, I guarantee that ANY quilt made by her Nanna will be special to little Ryley because it will have been stitched with love by her Nanna!! Enjoy spoiling her! Bear Hugs! Ah now there's that pink I was talking about! very pretty Dylan's quilt will be cute too!
good luck with the exercise.....no one to exercise with here so the motivation is very low.......the quilts looks much better without the blue.....and I am sure whe will be happy to snuggle in it........and probably puk on it too..........
Riley's quilt looks lovely. Good luck with the gym once your into it it's easy it's just the starting.
I agree, the blue was kinda stark, and the pink is more serene. Good call! It is now perfect!
Dylan's is going to be awsome, too, for a future Earth mover!! tee hee
I am right there with you on the weight thing, I have "socoalized" way too much this summer, and I now have to grunt some of the "socialization" off my waist...geez, am I fat, which goes with old and granny,,,,yup, that's me!!!
Good luck with the Gym thing Loz, hope it goes well .... absolutely no notivation here mind you I need it badly. Between you and Amanda Im going to be the fatty boombah!!!! Ryley's quilt is lovely ... I think you were right to change the blue, Im sure she will love it. You are such a busy girl cant beleive what you achieve ... well done. Vivs stitchery is gorgeous too cant wait to see that progress. Amanda has been busy tracing hers and said it took some time - lots of detail. Cheers Sue
Lorraine the quilt for Ryley is just gorgeous. I think you've been looking at it too long, it's adorable. Love the fabric for Dylan's quilt, too cute.
Oh, you will be busy to get that stitchery done by this Xmas but I know how you can stitch! Ryley's quilt is lovely and very practical.
What's an heirloom anyway, something you can't use?
How do I get Viv's stitching pattern that you are working on???
that's a lovely pink quilt - what is the fabric range you have used? It is gorgeous!
oh my - you are a busy woman.
i love the quilt top - i loved it with the blue and without - but like you said, it's never easy to see in photos.
