Inching towards the century!

Seems as if I have been close to the milestone of 100 posts for a while......still in the "nervous nineties" for the cricket fans out there! .......I have been a bit "under the weather" this past week....I was feeling a "bit tired" and ended up having a few days off work - a virus apparently...which has left me feeling yucky and tired and not much like doing anything at all!

Yesterday was the first day for ages that I went the whole day without a nanna nap!....back to work today and managed to last the whole day!!........The Prince had a day off and was home to receive this................

.................my SSCS parcel! I think I will be handing this little puppy over to the Prince for safekeeping until Christmas!! No way it will stay intact otherwise! So "thank you" in advance to my Secret Santa!!..............

Ages ago I put my name down for a Tea Cosy class at the Patchwork Apple........Saturday was the day.....my dear friend Cheryl (no blog) was going to come with me ....we were looking forward to some serious lunching, shopping and stitching......I woke up feeling "not too bad" and decided I would go along for a little while at least.....then came a phone call from Cheryl telling me she had been struck down by the same mystery ailment that I have.....and wouldn't be coming......So off I went and lasted a little while at the class.......enough time to do a little shopping (the Prince reads my blog!)....and have some afternoon tea......

.....those cupcakes again....this time filled with passion fruit and cream....well the ones I saw the other girls eating were!!!.

...we had the choice of two patterns for the tea cosies...one was Jane's design (seen above with the yo yo's) and one was Janelle Wind's pattern....French Kiss.... I decided on this one and used similar fabrics as well..............I have changed it a little bit - I didn't add the rick rack between the frills and used rick rack as ties instead of ribbon......I finished this on Sunday between naps!!

.......and I even mastered the frills with the minimum of fuss................................! I think the Prince may be right though....I need a bigger teapot!!

I received a call from Cheryl late yesterday to tell me that not only was she still under the weather with the lurgy but......she had had a fall and broken her wrist......so no stitching for her for a while...if you are reading this Cheryl I hope you are on the mend soon!!

While I was in the sewing room I decided that a few projects that were almost finished should be finished!.....so this was the result.................12 Red Robins........from Cinderberry Stitches.....(this was a pattern I was lucky enough to win on Natalie's blog...the stitchery has been finished for a while and I was waiting to find just the right fabric to finish it off....and I found it on Saturday at Jane's..........the original pattern calls for framing but I chose to put borders on instead....)
I had also started a Christmas stocking stitchery at the Cyber Stitching day..........again...almost finished.............................! It's amazing how little time it takes to put the finishing touches to these projects....why is it that they sit there for so long in that "almost finished" state??
...........another stitchery just waiting for a backing........................which it now has.........................! (This is a Rosalie Quinlan pattern - Heart of Christmas which included three designs)

These finishes didn't require too much energy and the sense of achievement actually made me feel better!! Yesterday I woke up feeling full of energy (which lasted about two hours!!) so got a little bit done around the house.....had a nap and then decided to try this pattern - Scappy Sack from This & That......this is the front..................

.......and the back ...................

...the pattern has a flower and leaves appliqued on the front but I chose not to put them on this version...............

On Friday the mailman delivered the first block in the Wool Garden BOM I am doing with Karen.........

(Another pattern to indulge my wool addiction!) If you get a chance have a look at Karens shop.......I spend quite a bit of time there!

I think that about does it from me this time........I am still taking it slowly.....and am feeling better each day.

The Prince has taken my Secret Santa parcel and hidden it........so no chance that I will be opening it before Christmas!.........I must admit though....I love surprises and don't poke/prod or shake presents to find out what they are.......I remember searching for Christmas presents once when I was a child ......... and the absolute devastation I felt on finding my present....it was a doll and to this day I won't look for presents or try and find out what they are!

'Til next time........................Lorraine

Hey Lorraine! Sorry to hear you've been feeling icky - never fun, especially when you have a list of things you want to get done. Looks like you've achieved a bit, though with your finishes - well done! Oh - you're much more controlled than I am - my curiosity niggles and I snoop! GB keeps reminding me what curiosity did to the cat, but I can't help it - I need to know! Tee! Hee! Hee! Have fun stitching and hope you recover fully from your lurgy soon. Bear Hugs! KRIS

For someone who has not been well, you have been very productive. Isn't it good to get a lot of finishing off done and one or two quick projects help too.

Hey Loz. Just think what you would be able to produce when your are well. I am totally impressed with the volume and your work is stunning.
Curiosity may have killed the cat, but satisfaction brought it back. I have changed my sign in so you should now be able to respond...if you want to.
Cheers Shelley
