Stitching Group Get Together........

Today was the annual get together of our little stitching group.....the group started over seven years ago and we usually manage to meet once a month for stitching and even a bit of "bitching"!....and at the end of each year (or in this case the beginning of the new year!) we have a get together to celebrate friendship and stitching.....the guys get to come as well!! ....Cheryl and Ian were hosts today and they put on a fabulous meal (which we ate under the shade of trees in their back yard....)......Ian has a love for all things retro and has decked out his shed with a bar and a collection of music and retro furniture which is fun........He had a drinks menu which catered for the drivers and the non-drivers in the group....there was some discussion as to who was going to be driving home but it was decided that since it was the girls day out the guys would drive home.....another Harvey Wallbanger for Linda...........and a Cranberry and Vodka for me...............! Amanda and Cheryl already had theirs ................
Ian was at home behind the bar...............

Gifts were exchanged after lunch..................

You can guess who got the Princess towel and crochet jug cover!!! Thanks Linda.....! No handstitching for Cheryl who was hampered by a broken arm .........so her embroidery machine was put to good use!!

The day wasn't without some drama .........which included................a visit by friends with their dog which wandered into Ian's chook yard and unfortunately "despatched" two of his prized chooks....the friends were very apologetic and left soon afterwards! Cheryl missed this drama as she was in the house helping Peter put a dressing (of sorts) on his big toe which he had stubbed on a stake in the garden................

I probably wouldn't be giving up the day job Cheryl!

Time for a cuppa and as Cheryl was walking up the path to the house we discovered the path was also being used by a brown snake....no pics of the snake who took flight (slither!) at the sight of us coming........but here are some of the gallant lads looking for it in the garden...................

.....but it was long gone!! (clever snake!)

Here are a few more pics of some of Ian's collection of "all things retro"..............

Gotta love the chrome and vinyl kitchen chairs with the red/green/white spots!! and the forerunner of the IPod....the old record player....not to mention the records!

Ian has created a series of ponds in the garden.........

.......looking over the back fence to the paddocks beyond.......................

Overseeing the day was the lovely Buddy...........

We even managed a few games of table tennis before we came home! It was a fabulous day and Ian and Cheryl were wonderful hosts!! Always great to spend time with friends to celebrate spending time with friends.......!

Hope you are enjoying your weekend! 'Til next time...............Lorraine

What a fun day. It's nice that you include the guys in the activities. Ian's retro collection is very interesting. Who would have thought that all the things we threw away years ago would be prized possessions for someone later on?

Wow it looks like you girls had a great day, perfect weather, lovely pressies, good hosts, lots of entertainment, and those snake catchers wow! um what were they planning with the umbrella, maybe stabbing the snake now that would have been very funny to watch and how cute is Buddy.
Congratulations on getting into Homespun with your gorgeous bag, gee it was great to read about someone you actually know... sort of...LOL.

Snake wine?! Snake liquor?! Huh?!

Well, anyway, it looks like a lovely day was had by all! Sad, isn't it, when you realize that all that retro stuff is the same stuff you grew up with, and it doesn't look at all out of the ordinary?! LOL!
