It wasn't violent......no one made a fuss.......there was no one home but me.........and the dining room is now mine.....all mine.........(insert evil laugh!)........psssst....in case you hadn't heard it has been a bit warm here......and my sewing room is like the inside of an oven (a switched on oven!) - I have been amusing myself by playing around on the internet reading blogs and buying stuff....but enough is enough!...and today I decided I was going to stitch or at least get some blocks prepped and ready to stitch.....so I took over the dining room.....and me being happy is what it is all about...well isn't it...???? anyway..................
Late last year I signed up for a BOM with Karen at Farmhouse Woolens....a Waltzing with Bears pattern called Wool Garden.......and the patterns have been arriving in my mailbox and to date I hadn't done anything with them.....after Anne posted her tutorial on wool applique the other day I decided today was the day to start working on the blocks I have received........hence the takeover......................
I have prepped two blocks ready for stitching during the week .....not very good photos...the light is poor in here today......everything closed up against the heat.................this one in particular looks very washed out...and the flowers still need their little centres but it is together........
It feels great to have achieved something after days of not feeling like doing anything! I am looking forward to getting these stitched this week......Karen has put together some great colours and I am really loving working with wool!!! I am going to do Anne Sutton's free BOM in wool as well....my order to Farmhouse Woolens for stashbuilding help has been sent.....!! Karen is packing up her house and I have offered to "look after" her wool stash for her until she moves into her new home......! I think I would be needing to get into line for that.....a very long line!!
Back to work tomorrow - lots on at the moment so that will keep me busy - hope everyone has a good week...keep cool or warm as the case may be........!
'Til next time.....................Lorraine

Yes! It is all about you being happy! If not, what is life for? So glad you will have some stitching to do this week. (Who needs a dining room anyway?)
Nice Blocks you are doing there...Glad you had some productive Energy Today...The Wool looks Great ...
have a Good Week.
cheers
All I can say is I am glad this BOM is now full because I headed on over ready to sign up and I think I have enough unfinished BOM at the moment lol. It looks really nice though very partial to wool must do something about it one day.
Leave it to you to decide to work on wool during the Great Heat Wave of '09!
Word verification: ludhat which is what a person who sews wool in hot weather wears . . . .
Loz,
I love the BOM blocks......Darn you wool people, now I want to play too! Since becoming a blogger I have been EXPOSED to wool, redwork and too many pretty pictures.......I was doing well just to do cross stitch, knitting and some quilts,Geez! Oh well I will be smiling as I get into more trouble.
I am glad I found your blog....
Wow...congrats on getting 2 of the blocks done! Now, that wasn't hard, was it? They look great! I have to say tho that you must be nuts working with wool in that heat you're having. Whew!
I thought there might be a comment from the Prince here or is he tied up and gagged in the corner. I'm liking those wool blocks.
I´m dooing this one too... just havent started yet...but I will try and prep the blocks ... while Im waiting for my hand/finger to heal...
Wool and the heat you are having... does it work...lol..?
I thought the same as someone else above me....
You're mucking around with wool in a heatwave so intense it's buckling train tracks????!!!
I'm happy to see you achieved something in the heat! Gorgeous blocks!
Trust you Loz to work with wool in this HORRIBLE heat!!! Anyway Im jealous ... they are looking fantastic .... look forward to seeing the progression of the blocks. Stay cool!!!????
Cheers Sue
i would happily send you ALL of my ice and snow :)
LOVE your wool blocks! to make them do you felt the wool first or can you use the wool straight off the bolt? i don't quilt but your photos make me itch to do some stitching. and so many lovely links!!!
Love those blocks!!! Glad you found a cooler spot, now off the check out Karen's site!
Loz those blocks look great, I love the look of wool, I really must try a project using it thanks for the inspiration...
Love those blocks!
Wool would have been my last choice in this heat, but yours is well worth the effort..
Julia ♥
Love your wool applique. I also really enjoyed Anne's tutorial. I've never worked with wool but now I'm tempted.
I know what you mean about your sewing room. I'm too scared to go out to my caravan in case I melt on the floor when I open the door. Love what you are working on. Now back to the stitching in the cool
Those blocks look AMAZING! Isn't wool fun to work with?!
Seems odd to read postings about the heat....we had a snow day today but with weather warmer this weekend. (I'm looking forward to warmer weather!) But I had to comment not on the weather but your wool blocks. I have mine all neatly packaged just as Karen sent them. I suppose I better get them prepped to keep up before falling too terribly behind. Yours look fantastic!
I personally think more stitchers need to take over the master bedroom. Large rooms, lots of closet space, en suite facilities. In fact, just add an air conditioner to the window, a mini fridge and a hot plate, you would never have to leave!
