Polka Dots....Mice and a Nasty Break.....!

This week has gone pretty quickly....Easter is but a dim memory! ......busy week at work with no stitching done so nothing new to show....I did get a quilt on the frame last Monday and hope to finish that tomorrow. It was dark when I got home from work last night and I didn't see the parcel which had been delivered during the day .........I won a giveaway on Nancy's blog a couple of weeks ago ...........goodies in polka dot paper.................

Cute card...................love that little bird!

and inside..........................fab polka dot bags.........!

Thanks Nancy.....I love them......!!

On another (and not so cute note) we have mice.......eeeeeeeeeuuuuww!!! Little field mice which have taken shelter in our house.....as far as I am concerned they can go right back out to whatever field they came from....it is WAR!! The Prince is resisting putting out bait because of the dog and her predilection for eating anything and everything! (except mice)!
They are too tiny to set traps off so haven't had much success with those......Mark was making his lunch the other day and Chelsea was sitting waiting patiently for some scrap of food to fall off the table.......a mouse ran along the bench top tried to go round something and fell off straight on to Chelsea's head!!! it then jumped on to her back then on to the floor and ran behind the fridge.....meanwhile Chelsea was shaking her head and couldn't work out what had hit her.....she is getting a bit old now and isn't into chasing small rodents...prefers her food not to move!! There is however one mouse that won't be back for more .....won't go into detail but suffice to say the toaster is also out of action now! Time to get serious and get rid of the rodents!!

Not sure if I mentioned that Mark played half a game of football a couple of weeks ago in a pre-season trial match............he spent the second half of the game at the hospital having xrays on his wrist after he fell on it ......got the all clear .......but was still in a lot of pain this week.....another visit to a different doctor and more xrays.............and this was the result...........

That is more of a grimace than a smile - he is not a happy camper!! Four to six weeks out of his beloved game! But it is only the beginning of the season so there should be plenty of games left for when he is fit again.....!

Hope everyone has a great weekend....I will certainly be trying!

'til next time................Lorraine

Eeewwww...mice! When we first moved to this house 12 years ago we had farm land on three sides of our lot...lots of mice in the Spring. Minou the cat was a really good mouser back then...ate them by the tons. Feel better, Mark!

I would have trouble sleeping at night knowing there was little mice creeping about. Hope they disappear soon.

Hey Lorraine! Oh dear! We're in that same rodent boat, I'f afraid! We have rats who hold clog dancing competitions in the ceiling, but THANKFULLY can't get in the house. Then we have the smartest mice in Australia who tap dance on the traps, take the bait and scoot off again! SIGH!! In the past, we've found the sticky-pad traps to be most effective, especially for little mice, but there's a mouse plague in the region, so they're all sold out - Darn it!! Laughed at the story of Miss Chelsea and the sky-diving mouse! Our Border Collie, Wombat, was a pup when we went through another mouse plague whilst living out of town. He chased and crunched so many then, that he now ignores them!! Happy hunting! Bear Hugs! KRIS

We use to have a problem with mice at our old place we were sitting watching TV one night and Chris looked down and one was watching it with us. Now we have rats but they seem to stay outside but use our fence as Rat Highway One our elderly neighbour has birds, fruit trees and lots of woodpiles so there isn't much we can do about the rat population until they come in from the cold then it is ratsack all the way
