We have run away from home......!

It's true ......the Prince and I have absconded...jumped ship.......run away....leaving the kids at home! .........and this is where we ran to.........................

..........a beautiful little cottage in Inman Valley.........our home away from home for the next couple of days................and shortly after this pic was taken that chair was occupied (by me, my quilt and laptop).......we have left the kids home to house sit and I think they were looking forward to us leaving .........! They kept asking what time we were going!

The renos continue - the painters have been and have left the kitchen in a much better state than when they arrived......we are still living in the family room (well when we are there we are!) and the passage, dining room and lounge room are next in line ........here are a couple of before and after pics of the kitchen: ...we couldn't afford a full refit of the kitchen but I think the painting of the cupboards has made a huge difference. We took the last of the furniture out of the lounge room this morning and found homes for it wherever it would fit.........once the floors are finished and the painting done in this room we can get that part of the house back to normal......whatever "normal" is!

The floors have been stained a couple of times before being covered with carpet.....for the age of the house the floors are in very good condition which makes the finishing of them easier.........getting the carpet up and the furniture shifted out was the hardest part! The carpet looks amazing now....it is rolled up in the carport ready to go to the tip! The best it's looked for ages! LOL .......The curtains are down and will be dry cleaned next week - doing renos is a great chance to have a really good clean!.........but this weekend is strictly for relaxing and stitching!!

'til next time.................Lorraine

Thanks for sharing your reno pictures and your cozy weekend getaway. Both big adventures. I like white kitchen cabinets and cupboards - have them and I have not gotten tired of them.

Great progress. I would love to do hardwork floors too...my 12 year old carpet is pretty sad.

We're running away too in a couple of weeks...the kids are excited to have the house to themselves!

I think the view out of that cottage window looks fabulous! Will you post a pic of the outside of your home sometime? I'd love to see what it looks like from the street. I grew up in an 1890s home, and currently rent a 1910 home...love the old house character!

The clean, fresh white paint looks terrific! Can't wait to see how all the floors turn out. I hope you lose all the stuff you won't ever use or don't want and put only your favorites and hardest working tools back in that lovely new kitchen. Glad you're getting a break from living in your reno. It can really wear you out, I know.
