Water for Elephants........................

A while ago a few of us were chatting at work and decided to form a book club (aka a great reason to get together for a drink some great food and a laugh) and Water for Elephants was the first book we chose to read..............tonight we got together for the first time and even discussed the book a bit! LOL.....

It was agreed that it was a good read...........and also that forming the club was a great idea.......next book will be "Wicked"........and the next gtg will be at my house so I had better get the place organised.....I have a couple of months as one of our members is returning to England to visit family for a few weeks.......we did think a trip to Melbourne to see the play might be in order as well!!......

In other news - I have been doing a bit of stitching...no pics......it is secret stitching for the SSCS...and it is hand stitching because the Pfaff is in dry dock ......so to speak.....Ihave had the faithfull Pfaff for 11 years and it has been fabulous...but the tension has always been a little fickle ..........needing to be fiddled with to perform ...........on Saturday I flew up to the sewing room..(well not really but it fits with the "f" theme!)......all set to stitch.....the Pfaff had other ideas - I eventually packed it up and got it ready to go away to be repaired - to say I was frustrated was an understatement!......and went back to handstitching.....! but.....wait there is more..............when I dropped the machine off I was chatting to the owner of the shop and ......well..........I bought a Bernina!!! Jenny offered me a deal that was too good to pass up.....(and I did phone the Prince to ask his his opinion).........I will pick it up on Friday so will post some pics on the weekend..........This is by no means the top of the range Bernina (I haven't won the lottery!)...but it (the 440) will do everything I want it to........I will keep the Pfaff which is still a good machine (or it will be once the tension is fixed!!) ......it will be perfect for the quilting frame!

After a few months of being completely unmotivated to do any form of exercise I have decided to go back to Curves and start walking again .....the Spring mornings have helped motivate me......it is a great time of year........!

I haven't posted for a while.......have been feeling a bit flat and generally lacking in motivation but have been feeling a bit better over the last few days...it was great to get together with the girls tonight for book club and the stitching girls will be here on Saturday......It's all good!

'Til next time..............Lorraine

Congrats on the machine upgrade! My Pfaff still gives me tension fits every now and again, but is working much better than it ever had in the past. Finding the right repair-woman was the trick for me.

I've been wanting to read that book, I've heard good things about it. I think you will enjoy "Wicked", I read it and get to see the Broadway show (the traveling version) in a few weeks...

Hi there.. good to see a little post from you!!! Enjoy your Spring walks... I sure did... and do have a hard time motivating myself now when Autumn is knocking on the door!!! SIGH!!!! Hope to get me going again!!

Feeling flat and unmotivated puts a real gray cloud over everything, doesn't it? The book club get-together sounds like great fun, even if the book isn't discussed all that much. Being with friends is the important part.

Keep us posted on how the upgrade works out. Fighting tension or "clunks" or missed stitches or whatever takes the fun out of sewing anything.

Fall and winter are headed our way around here. Just keep quilting. Just keep quilting.

You'll love the 440, glad the mojo is emerging. I got told off last night for not posting enough, I have been a bit busy but I just haven't done anything note worthy so not much on the blog front or nothing note worthy I can share... birthday swaps etc. So is the 440 coming to Don't Look Now....

Your book club sounds like fun. Stitching with friends and catching up is just the best. I have a Bernie 440 QE and I love it. I am sure that you will too.

There is nothing like getting a new machine to make you want to sew. Maybe you should get a few bits of fabric ready cut so you can dive straight in ? xx

a new member of the family?? can't wait to see the pictures of her!

We saw "Wicked" in Chicago and it was phenominal! it was the only time the book was not better than the play (or movie)

Oh, have fun with that lovely new machine! I have seen that book, I really need to get it and read it, it must be fun to read with a group. It is cooling down here, which makes it better for me...motivation! Hope you find yours soon, your machine may help!

Wow, how great is that? Reading, fun with friends, stitching, and getting a new sewing machine. I'd say you've had a great couple of weeks.
