Ta Da!!!

At last ...... there has been some stitchin' goin' on around here! I reintroduced myself to my sewing room yesterday afternoon and again today....... It's been fun....and I have even found time to do some housework as well........! The Prince came up to see what the strange noise was coming from my sewing room.....hadn't heard the sound of the Bernina for ages......
A while ago Doris posted about some little bags she had made from the Snap Happy pattern......I ordered the pattern here and it arrived during the week.......it uses pieces of metal tape measure in the top to create a "snap" closure......I cut the pieces out yesterday and sewed three of them up today......too cute......and the pattern can be adapted to any size .........

Yesterday I finished quilting the Joy to the World table runner.....it has been ages since I sat down at the machine....I got organised....and the bobbin was empty...so seeing that I was using red thread on the top of the quilt I filled the bobbin with red and off I went.....it wasn't until I looked at the back that I realised that way back when I worked on this last......I was using red on the top and beige on the back....LOL.....I didn't unpick it ....it will be a reminder to look before you stitch...!

Here is the finished runner.......I was pretty happy with it.........

I have made a pact with myself (can you do that?) to finish something old when I finish something new.....and I will be able to do that for quite a while!! So with that in mind I hauled out this quilt which only needs binding to be a finish........the top was pieced many years ago - I quilted it last year and it has been sitting in the sewing room with the binding cut out and ready to stitch on......so today it is on and I will be hand stitching it down as soon as I finish this post.........

All in all a very prductive weekend! ......A busy week ahead .....and I have handstitching to keep me occupied in the evenings! Roll on Friday!!

'Til next time...............Lorraine

Hi Loz, You have been very productive. I have been a good girl and have been sitting as still as possible and doing my tailfeather blocks. On my 6th one now done everything except for the applique because I do this at the end usually but I might have to start on because i don't want to unthread my machine as I have tension perfect at the moment for the Christmas Tree and that has been a bit of a trial. Might be able to talk Chris into bringing my old elna in so I can sew on that but don't want to push things too far.... poor dear is a bit tired doing stuff and keeping the house tidy... always did do a better job than me or maybe it is just that he cares about housework more than me.

I really like the quilt with the angel & basket blocks! It can come live at my house any time.

Love it all Lorraine - what a busy weekend you had. I have some of those snappy thingos in the cupboard - must drag them out.

And all of them so so pretty! Love the tape measure closure, very clever way to manage keeping a bag closed. Good idea to go one new, one old, I may have to adopt that idea. Seems I am one "new" ahead of myself just now. Trying to keep my "in progress" list down to three things at once---it is difficult, I tell you!

Hah! And just today my DH broke his metal tape measure. How fortuitous. :-D

Your bags look fabulous! And that Joy to the World runner, if you can't find a home for it...I can send you my new address! ;->

You have been busy. Like the idea of the tape measure closure. You can always say the red thread was a design feature.

That Doris is truly an inspiration, isn't she!? We live in the same city and I met her first through her blog, then in person. She's just as nice as you'd expect her to be.

I'm stitching Crabapple Hill snowmen too! The "A to Z Snowmen," though my alphabet hasn't gotten very far!

Love seeing the things you're working on. Thanks for sharing!

Every project is cuter than the next! Where in the world did you get the metal for the snap closure? Your table runner is so pretty...and your quilt is gorgeous! Don't you love binding? It is my favorite part!
