CW Homework

I had a rostered day off work today.......it was a perfect day for it....my plan was to spend all day in the sewing room, having got rid of most of the household chores yesterday......I got up early and dressed in my very best stay at home clothes.......I had no intention of going anywhere but the sewing room.

I spent a while tidying and sorting thru stuff ..... then messing around with the camera settings.......then finally got around to some sewing......

Made this....the first block in my "parallel CW quilt"....my plan is to make two blocks at a time...one in the red/of-white colourway and another in brown/tan/pinky ......here is the first block in the "parallel quilt"....I planned to make more but don't have enough background/light fabrics ...

........it takes me ages to choose colours........so I spent some time faffing around in my stash looking for "lights"........I gave up after a while and went back to the red/off-white blocks and made the homework block from Saturday's class.........I have since removed the basting on the handle and stitched it down.......

So here are the four blocks I have made to date.......

Just need to make some "filler" blocks now and my homework assignment is done.....I need to get these done as soon as possible after the class...otherwise time gets away and then it is time for the next class......I need to keep up!!

So that was my day off.......after a sunny day yesterday it was back to winter today..... cold with rain showers  ...at least I think it was cold.....I didn't really venture out (except to spend some time in the back yard with Miss Rosie).......mind you ....she wasn't out long either....preferring to spend the day indoors with me......

Yesterday being such a nice sunny day was perfect for gardening......well.....pulling out weeds anyway......and Rose was helping.......she tired herself out.......it was hard work running to sit on the spot where I was weeding...then pulling the weeds out of the bucket and spreading them all over the lawn.....what a great helper she is....!!  I don't really enjoy gardening......but am warming to it since I am the only one here to do it.....I planted some sweet peas a while ago and they are growing nicely.....put a little trellis in their pot for them ....and shifted them into a more sunny position.....I love sweet peas...I think they are my favourite flower........and they smell divine!

There goes my plan for an early night........time just flies by when you are having fun doesn't it!!!

'Til next time..........................Lorraine

Sounds like you need some retail shopping therapy to fill in those lights that you need.

Your blocks are so well done. I can tell you have spent some time making them.

I'm looking forward to seeing both the quilts once they are completed.
I'm finding that I don't enjoy gardening as much as I used to, if only we could pick up our house and put it on a smaller block.
I'm with Karen, you need an expedition to get some more background/light fabrics, you can never have enough.

It sounds like you had a perfectly pleasant day, in spite of the chill and rain. I know exactly what you mean about keeping up with monthly blocks; I have the same approach as you. Enjoy the process!
