My house faces west....there are three large windows at the front and I needed to get awnings made for them to try and cut down the heat which will be generated in summer........the inside has been taken care of with curtains and blinds so the awnings were next on "the list"........the blind man came back today to install them......and in no time the front of the house went from this
........to this.............
I chose colours which are close to the colours of the roof and eaves.....and was happy with the result....they are easy to pull down when needed......and they weren't needed today so once I took the photo they were rolled up.......no sun to speak of here today! ....even puppy school was cancelled due to the inclement weather.......!
'Til next time..................Lorraine

What a pretty house you have, Loz! It's just charming. And I enjoy seeing those awnings. We have nothing like those here in the Midwest or anywhere that I've ever seen in the US. Maybe other Americans can tell me if I'm missing something.
We don't have awnings on this house but I do think that it worthwhile to consider getting a couple for our 2 west facing windows, although we have a big tree (deciduous) near them which does throw a lot of shade in summer, but I think awnings would help a bit more. I never used to think that closing the curtains made much difference in summer but I have been doing it the past 2 summers and it actually does (even though it makes the house really dark, which I hate)
I Love Awnings..yours are Lovely & they really suit the front..Your Garden is looking Good!
cheers

very nice.... and when they get dusty.... just a hose or bucket of water......will bring them back to new......enjoy
what a cute house and I really like the mailbox...
In the midwest, our awnings are usually cloth or metal and unable to be opened or closed. They just hang over the window like...well...like...an awning!!
Yours look like what we call slat blinds that are used inside..
eyelids... how cute!!!
