A bit of this........and a bit of that.....

The weekend has once again disappeared in a blink.....last time I looked it was Friday night......and here it is Sunday night already.  I didn't do much at all yesterday.  Went shopping for food in the morning....came home and unpacked the groceries and pottered around the house not achieving much at all....but loving  it nevertheless.

I was enjoying a little "sleep in" yesterday and was woken by quite loud "swooshing" noises......two balloons were taking advantage of the beautiful clear, still mornng to fly around the Barossa....and the noise of the air being heated every now and then is loud!....all the dogs in the neighbouhood were barking ....even Rose who of course is normally perfect!  LOL

So that was the end of my "sleep in"!  (I must 'fess up that I grabbed the camera on the way out the bedroom.....but not my glasses -  had no idea of what was in / out of focus....so not the best pics I have ever taken.......)

Today I played at being a domestic goddess....and I really need all the practice I can get!  By late afternoon I was pretty much done with washing, ironing, dusting, vacuuming and washing floors so took myself off to the sewing room....where I finished the block I cut out last week for my CW Club quilt ....I was really happy with the way it went together......I like this one!

....and then made block 3, Seven Sisters, from the Civil War Block of the week.....

ok...it's not quite finished...I still have to stitch the stars down - a job for one night after work this week.  Barbara Brackman also has a really interesting blog, Material Culture - worth a look if you are interested in history.  I found the post Threads of Feeling very moving.

During my cleaning frenzy.....(...frenzy probably isn't quite the right word).......I decided it was time to pack away the Christmas/New Year jigsaw......it was hard to break up something that took me so long to put together..........

But I have the table back now.........!

I also decided the sewing room should be changed around.....so spent a while doing that....then didn't like it.....so changed it back again.....ensuring yet another trip to the physio!

Gratitudes:
neighbours who drop in to bring you roses from their garden
weekends
a really good physio

'Til next time..................Lorraine

I had a balloon trip booked and then couldn't go because of my lungs. I think it would be fantastic. Being a domestic goddess is over rated that is why I have given up trying LOL. Love the star block.

I've been around hot air balloons myself (no, it's not my husband) and that tell-tale "whoosh" sound is not soon forgotten. So glad you got to see pictures of them, after you put your glasses on!

Your Civil War blocks are really nice. Lots of work went into that first one, with all those little triangles. A very nice job for just "pottering around." Thank you for sharing.

Balloons are loud!! We had some over our old place early one morning they had to land out the front of the farm we lived at because of crazy winds! And any time you feel like you need more DG practice.... I'll give you directions to my place! ;)

My domestic goddess gene is on holidays at the moment, she might have even retired indefinitely. Love the balloons.

I hate all that domestic stuff, I rush through it to get to my "reward" (time in the sewing room). Even though you couldn't see the balloon photos came out well.

I dont fit the descroption of Domestic Goddess at all..and I'm OK with that.

I love both your blocks Loz but the first one especially. Pity you didnt get to sleep in more but how exciting though to be woken by hot air balloons.

Enjoy the physio time. I've woken up sore from pulling staples all day yesterday - which is kind of pathetic until you realise I pulled about 400 of them.

Hmmmm. I don't mind being domestic (believe that and I'll tell you another one) but I think I'd rather be a sewing goddess. ;-)

Love the balloons!
