Saturday I drove out to Maldon for a look.......I may have indulged in an iced chocolate (with cream)......(well....I AM on holiday.......and cream is allowed whilst on holiday).....which I didn't think to take a photo of ....was too busy demolishing it! Found this cute lace curtain in one of the shops.....cows and cowbells.......
Arriving back in Castlemaine I headed into Haberdash for a look see.......the shop was open.....all good!!
Some pics from the shop..........there are so many lovely displays it's easy to spend a loooooong time browsing....opening cupboards and drawers and touching the contents is encouraged......buttons.....laces......so much stuff................
Loved this drawer......
......and on the other side was a drawer with a label which said "more stuff"......think I need labels like that for my sewing room cupboards! It really is a fabulous shop .......I may have bought a little something..........see you can see by the size of the bag it's not big....... good things come in small packages....LOL
I also popped in to Threadbear....
The main reason for visiting Castlemaine on my way to Nundle (well it's sort of on the way) was to attend a class with Di Ford at Threadbear. Di certainly takes fussy cutting to a whole new level and I look at fabric quite differently now! Route 66 is a quilt that Di pieced whilst travelling in America (on Route 66.....) and it was the inspiration for the class yesterday......Here is the lovely Di (and her quilt!)
Sam couldn't wait for one of the ladies to leave so he could claim her spot in the class.....
How cute!!! He is certainly a charmer...!
I didn't finish a block in class...but I learned heaps from Di - as I said previously it has certainly changed the way I look at fabric and fussy cutting.......so many options......
Here is the block I started......I couldn't decide on the outer row......still haven't made up my mind if I like it or not.......
I think it may have a bit much "going on" and I was thinking of changing it out for a smaller print......came back to the motel and had a bit more of a think about it.......
Nope ....still couldn't make up my mind.....LOL
Had a late start this morning and found a place to have brunch......
And.....a place to browse......this is THE most amazing shop........
What they didn't have in the shop isn't worth mentioning......new stuff...old stuff....and everything in it's place.......well....sort of......
....who knew half a car could be such great wall art!
Scales anyone..........???
Or door knobs, locks....hinges......(I loved this display......)
......and isn't this fellow just the thing for your house??? I wonder what Rose would think of him....?
I may not have finished the block I was making in class but I did get these finished last night....they have been sitting in my sewing basket waiting for the binding to be stitched down.....so now it is...! The pincushion for the swap at GDITC is also done....except for the stuffing....which I will do when I get to Chooky's place....!!
Another shop I found had some interesting pieces of jewellery...I am not big on jewellery....don't have any rings.....one bracelet.....but I did like this.......so it came home with me.....I like the birds.......
Speaking of birds.....I won't be up with them if I don't finish this and get some sleep! Off to Hamilton tomorrow to meet up with Lise and Tracey....then....Nundle here we come!!!
Oh....you might have noticed by the header pic that one of the bottles bound for "refreshments on the lawn" at GDITC won't be making the journey! Mmmmmmmm pink Moscato...........all the others are intact and will be making the journey there but they won't be coming home with us......that space is reserved for fabric purchases!
'til next time........................Lorraine

I'll have to try and stowaway in your bags next time you take a trip :) once again it looks as if you are having a fabulous time. I'm making a note of all the names of shops so when I get to plan a trip over that way, I'll know where I'm going to go.
