Almost home.......

After 4 long haul International flights and 8 domestic flights....along with assorted buses/trains/ferries and the occasional taxi I am back in Adelaide on the final leg of my holiday.....and what a holiday it has been!

I have had the most amazing time, met new people, seen some fab sights, caught up with friends and family and faced (and conquered) some of my fears and phobias....not the least of which was my fear of flying! I was also a little apprehensive about travelling on my own on the US/London/US leg of the trip....but I discovered that you are never really alone when you travel.....there are loads of people waiting for the same plane/bus/train....signs are plentiful ....and there is always someone to talk to or ask questions......and I found I quite enjoyed it!

Spending the night in Adelaide with Rhiannon and Wade before heading home tomorrow to be re-united with Miss Rose.....who has been waiting at home being thoroughly spoilt by the house sitter......hopefully she will still be talking to me! I am sure she will come around eventually!

If I was to do a "best" / "worst" list from the holiday the best flight would have to be the flight back from LA to Sydney last night with Virgin Australia....lots of leg room and due to the flight not being fully booked lots of room to stretch out and sleep....smooth flight...best landing ....all in all...a big thank you to Virgin Australia!

Worst flight of the trip actually had nothing to do with the actual flight...more to do with the passenger on my left who spent the entire time searching out split ends in her hair and biting them off....eeeeeeuuuuuuwww!!!

My last day in LA was spent with Cheryl (polka dots and rick rack) She wasn't deterred by blocked roads and traffic chaos due to passengers trying to get to the airport to travel for Thanksgiving and a Teamsters protest near LAX (and my hotel) and we spent a lovely few hours chatting ......always great to meet a blogger who you have been talking to on line for years - it was like we had known each other forever! We were so busy talking we didn't take pics!! Yikes I am slipping! ......I did take a pic today of the lovely gifts Cheryl made for me.........Thank you so much Cheryl...I love them.

So....back to "normal" now.......holiday time is always a bit surreal so it will be nice to get back into routine......I hope I can remember who I am and what it is I do! I am sure someone will remind me :)

Time to hang up the travel pillow and boarding passes for a while......

'Til next time..............Lorraine

I have enjoyed following your trip Lorraine. The trip of a lifetime! How long were you OS in total? Feels like about 2 months and probably more to you. Watch out for the thud of reality!

Sadly you don’t get to choose who you sit next to on planes and there are some really strange people out there. Good to know the Aussie Airline did us proud.

Looking at your posts and pics it seems like you had an amazing time away. Thanks for virtually taking us along!
