Surprise!

Surprise #1 was having Rhiannon and Wade come to visit me last Friday evening........Surprise #2 was the reason for their visit......to deliver a parcel from my online stitching group FIS which contained this amazing quilt made by the group just for me!

I can't lie, there were tears!

Before I went into hospital I suggested that Cathy "friend" Rhiannon on FB so she could check on my progress......so there have apparently been lots of conversations between them about the quilt and Rhi even had pics which she kept to herself :)

Here is the co-conspirator with the quilt....

Cathy knew I had enjoyed my visit to the States in 2012 so the theme was decided...I have many fond memories of the trip thanks to  Alison ...my gorgeous travelling companion!  The quilt on the lounge behind Rhiannon is an antique quilt I purchased  in Portland in the first couple of days of the trip - definitely want to revisit Portland one day!

The quilting (stars/hearts/stripes) was done by Sarah who is also a member of the FIS group - a very talented bunch indeed!

Thanks girls for a fantastic gift which really lifted my spirits!  ....and thank you to everyone for their support during this time...having never had surgery before I had no idea what a toll it took on the body!

In other breaking news........Miss Rose has arrived home after spending some time with her mother while I recovered.  She was very excited to see me on Monday after three weeks - I have to say the feeling was mutual, it is lovely to have her home and in her rightful spot on the lounge (which is whichever one she chooses!)

Back to work on Monday (with the option of shorter hours if needed) so I won't be overdoing it - I think I need to go back - the combination of telemarketers and daytime TV is lethal!  Thank goodness for being able to concentrate for longer periods this past week so I could stitch or read!

'Til next time.........................Lorraine

So happy to hear you are recovering from such a big op Loz. And you are doing everything right by resting. What a beautiful family to step in and take such wonderful care of you. Even to the extent of Rose giving you a rest. That's giving your body all the time to heal it really does need. And the quilt.......wow......just stunning. Take things slow and you'll be back to yourself in no time. xxx Sue

A doggies love is so unconditional, mine apparently mopes around or sits and waits at the door until I get home, but I am sure Rose had plenty of fun as well. That is a beautiful quilt.

Hi Lorraine,

What a lovely quilt! I'm very happy to hear of your recovery. It's wonderful that you enjoyed your trip to the States so much that it was the first thing your friends thought of when making you a quilt. I absolutely LOVE the label too! Very nice. Have you ever been to Texas? We're the best state, just ask any Texan. lol

Getting your doggie back is a big deal too; she looks like she never wants to leave again.

All the best,
Susan in Texas
