Ballarat..............The next instalment

Where was I......oh....back in Ballarat after a day spent looking around in shops...oh ok, there may have been some purchasing as well as looking being done....Jan just wouldn't stop.... :)  well, that may not be 100% correct.....here's a little something I picked up (and paid for) at Creswick Woollen Mill....a pure wool scarf that is just beautiful to wear......

Saturday morning saw us "walking the lake".....the walking track around Lake Wendouree which is about 6km.....another beautiful day .....cloudless blue sky and crisp morning air.....

After the walk it was time to get ready for Gail's class at Cotton Factory.......

about to make a start.......

a few pics of the Cotton Factory.....lots of colour.....

the class was fun and I even did some stitching....a week later and it's almost done.....

Saturday night Gail, Jan and I headed out to the Forge for pizza....wow......fantastic!! and even though I didn't think I had a snowball's chance in that hot place of finishing the whole pizza it was demolished in no time......potato pizza - light crust with paper thin potato slices and cheese...it was delicious.  Washed down with pear cider......

Sunday morning I was up and with a bit of rearranging of the load was on my way.....

The trip home was uneventful, which is always the best way to go!  Rose was happy to see me - but not so happy that her place in the car was suddenly full of other "stuff"...but she soon settled down for the ride home.  It took a while to unpack the car, empty the suitcase, and get organised for work on Monday......it really was a great time, and Jan and her husband were wonderful hosts.....who are very proud of the city they live in (and rightly so!) - you always learn so much more about a place when you have that local knowledge.

I didn't have much chance for any sewing or to set up the ladder or baskets during the week, but this past weekend once the boring house stuff was done I had time to play....result....

one ladder with quilts.......being checked out by the resident "checker of all things new".....look at that hair cut!!!

the baskets are in the sewing room, but not set up yet....to be honest I have so many ways I would like to use them I can't decide!

....and some sewing at last!!  I could have gone out to the garden and pulled out some weeds, but really wanted to spend some time in my very neglected sewing room......I was on a mission to finish this project from Gail's book Patchwork Loves Embroidery.....

all done....hard to photograph though! loved making this bag, and I will be making more!

a few of the things that came home with me......

...and Jan spoilt me with a goody bag......and these.....love them!!  Can never have too many pin cushions.....and the brooch is so cute!!

A fantastic time away......good company, good fun...good food.....just excellent really!

'Til next time...............Lorraine

Ooh....all lovely. The ladder looks just right, and a good size to display your quilts fully. Sound a like a wonderful class, and weekend away.

Wonderful planning and plenty of friends and fabric and stitching! What could be better? Your finished bag is lovely, and the antique quilts on the ladder look equally lovely!

A lovely post with many beautiful things. Your stitching is divine. Your bag and your quilt display and not forgetting that cute orange person with the new "do", I love it all.

Oh you're sweet, Loz - you were such a great guest! Me - shopping - ha! (although I may have bought some fabrics and maybe a book lately....) We're away for the week to Forbes and Canberra but I must venture on to my poor wee blog when I get back. Look after yourself and keep having fun. xx
