Spring.......and some finishes.....

Spring and Autumn are probably my favourite seasons, and I missed most of the Autumn colour this year as I was away (enjoying Spring in the northern hemisphere so I am certainly not complaining!) the Spring blossoms have been a nice change from the dullness of winter...which seemed to be colder and greyer than normal, but maybe it was just me....below are a few random shots from home and out and about........

the weeping acacia.....

....and a closer look at the acacia blossom......

The bees have been busy buzzing.....

Blossom has been making way for new leaves.....

...and with a bit of wind we have a carpet of blossom....

these plum trees are in my back garden.....I love that the yellow flowers set off the white blossom perfectly....and they are weeds!!!

Since my last post I have been busy finishing a couple of things and starting more projects as you do....well, I do anyway!

These quilts are done and one has been delivered - the other is in the post.....it is certainly nice to have a finish!

This one is backed with flannel to make it super soft and comforting......

A disappearing four patch half quilted.....

I love binding quilts - it is the last little bit of bonding with a project before it can be called done..... a scrappy binding to keep things interesting....

...and ta da.....it's done, washed and dried and suitably "crinkly".....

Spring also means that it's time to calm that winter coat someone has been cultivating for the past few months......

Before.......

and after....don't worry, it will grow back again.....she has been jumping around like a two year old since the hair cut!.....and not bringing half the back yard in on her paws which act like giant mops when they are so fluffy......

On that note, I will sign off.....I have some more catching up to do next time......

'til then...................Lorraine

Flowering trees, finishes, fotos, and

fur! Love it all. Our autumnal equinox is today and we are all sick and tired of hot humid weather. Someday we hope our cool and comfy summers return.

I love Spring and Autumn too! Mild weather without the extremes of cold and heat....although this Spring we have had some cold days. Looking forward to the forecast warm weekend. Linda :)
PS. Rose looks naked....lol!

I love scrappy bindings and will use them whenever I can! I have been promised some of those clips for my birthday, so I look forward to using them.
I do like Rose all fluffy, but I totally get it that she loves to be "lighter" with all her coat clipped. When I had horses, they would frisk about and go all daft when their winter coats were clipped!
We're off for a walk in the woods shortly with my friend and her 2 little dogs. Billy is very close to the ground and very hairy, he ends up dragging half the forest along under his tummy and tail :-)

Rose looks like a new dog with her hair cut! I love binding too, but haven't done much lately.......although I am about to bind a mini with all of 36" of binding. Great kids quilts, the blue one especially.

Hi there - lovely post enjoyed your pic's. Do U usually wash finished quilts ? or just certain one's (I've never washed any of mine when finished/before giving away) Just read Gum Valley /Linda's latest blog re 2016 Stitch in spring instructors/teachers......a nice change, Natalie Bird, have a few of her patterns and also a few from Leanne Knell/Petals & Patches as she some times pairs up with Lisa Cantlay/Fig n Berry & , was booked into their stitching day in April...but due to bad cold didn't make it (girlfriend passed on my goodie bag ) However their next stitching day coming up soon Oct 18 not missing that !
Vague plans of Tassie trip Oct 2016 so wasn't planning on booking in for Stitch in Spring...may re assess that !!
