It sure feels like this week (and the last couple of weeks) have been on fast forward.......I think holidays are like that aren't they?
About this time last week I decided that the doover, which has lain idle for months, should start to earn it's keep.....so I loaded on a top......and started....then stopped and unpicked....started again....more unpicking....tension was in the air......because tension was the issue....just couldn't get it right......so the air was blue and I threatened to take the doover apart piece by piece and throw it somewhere - anywhere really. After I had cooled down a bit.....which took a day and a half......I started again.......got the quilting about half finished when the weekend arrived and I got busy with other things. Monday afternoon the quilting was finished and yesterday I sewed the binding on and last night finished off the hand stitching of the binding........and here it is.......
I think I finished this quilt about a year ago when I was on holiday with Kris.......my how time flies ...and what a year it was....! Just as well I embrace change..LOL...there was certainly a bit of that this past year!
Yesterday I did an "audit" of my sewing room......had a tidy up and got organised for some dedicated stitching time. I have three weeks Civil War blocks to catch up on....filler blocks to be made for my Civil War Legacy quilt.....and the pressure is on there.....will be getting together with Deb and Yvonne in late March to start the next quilt.....so this one needs to be finished!
While I was in Victoria I visited Linda's shop and bought a couple of patterns....and this one from Gail Pan was calling my name yesterday.........I had finished the stitchery a couple of nights ago........
Just need to quilt and bind and it's a finish!! Then on to the Civil War blocks.
Speaking of finishes........Lenora has finished her quilt soon to be offered by Linda as a BOM.....check it out here ...Well done Lenora - it looks amazing!
Rhiannon came to visit on the weekend....she had an engagement party to attend in a nearby town so came to stay with her Mum........here she is chillin' with Rose.......
We went for brunch with Mark and Terri on Sunday morning and unfortunately Terri had a severe allergic reaction to an ingredient in her breakfast and spent the rest of the day in hospital....very scary for her (and for Mark who sat with her while she recovered).....he had grabbed a pile of English homework books on his way out the door......so got his marking done as well. Allergies......very scary!
I have been avoiding the computer a bit over the past few days......Lovely to check emails/blogs etc....but before you know it hours have passed - so in order to get some other things done while I am on leave I have tried to limit the time I am spending on line.......well that's the plan anyway!
'Til next time...............Lorraine

I avoid it the computer on days when I want to get things done, it is just too tempting and easy to spend a bit of time and before you know a couple of hours have gone by.
Wow, a finish and a nearly finished, I like the fabrics in both of them or maybe it is the reds that speak to me.
Love the fabrics in your quilt Loz - it looks great.
Beautiful finished quilt! It's always so nice to be able to make a top become a "real" quilt :) Hope your holidays feel ultra long and productive--will look forward to seeing your new CW blocks.
I was wondering if you were still alive or not. Not enough to send out a search party obviously!
I recognised your finished quilt as soon as I saw it. Glad you finally got the tension issue resolved. That's the kind of thing that makes me want to throw sewing machines against the wall. (Anger management issues? No!)
Terri's brunch outing sounds very scary. Does she know what did it? Rose can do that and you can almost see her face swelling before your eyes. Jess has done it too, but not from food, just medication.
I hope you are enjoying your time off. When do you go back? We have Jess and co coming tomorrow for four days. Much excitement here.
Love your quilt and way to go on the finish..please send some of your finishing motivation my way!!
Sounds like you have been having tons of fun. I owe you an email or two!!!
The quilts are beautiful!
I find myself having the same trouble once I turn on the computer. Time whizzes by and before I know it, it's dark out and I haven't cooked dinner yet!
I'm going to try limiting my time as well.
Isnt this week 3 ? Already? Good grief you'll be back at work before you know it.
Kris joked about anger management issues . I seriously do have them when it comes to sewing tasks going wrong. My poor machine has been called all sorts of names!
LOVE the finished quilt ! Glad you persevered so we could all get a glimpse of the eye candy!
Hope Terri is alright and recovering nicely. Thats scary ! Good to see Mark is a multi tasker.
I always say I'll stay away from the computer - but I can never really do it. If the darn thing is connected - so am I!
I hope the next week or so goes really S-L-O-W-L-Y....
Hoping Terri is Ok now, must of been frightening at the time. Well done for sticking at that quilting, you have a beautiful quilt to show for it. I admire your perseverance, I think I might of walked away and closed the door.l Make sure you show us your CW blocks when they are done.
Enjoy your last week of holidays...Great on getting your top finished...
Hope Terri is feeling better I can relate to her allerigies I am the same with peanuts...hospital job for me too...
cheers
What's a doover?
Lovely quilt your two girls are lounging with!
BTW, the quote on your blog header is one of my all-time favorite quotations...so very true.
yes waste too much time on the computer...........but it is fun............nice quilt............glad you and the doover resolved the errors and got going...........
LOVE that quilt. I am with you time is zooming by I feel I will be 90 soon. I also agree with the computer thing to another great time waster.
I've avoided the computer for nearly a week, and I'm suddenly behind so many blogs that it takes hours to catch up. We just can't win, can we?
Pretty finish. I like that shade of red.
