Who stole October???

Hello November....having completely skipped over October on this blog I thought it was time I made an appearance to catch up with the happenings at Chez Loz......

As it happens it's been pretty quiet on the stitching front....work has been busy ....the weekends come and go quickly...and are filled with fun stuff like scrubbing the grout on the bathroom and laundry floors...I know...you all envy me that job!

So some pics to sum up the month of October....
This ball started at Stitch in Spring was finished and has been delivered to its new owner.....

Mark and Terri came home to get ready for football presentation night....

Not sure if I have mentioned it previously, but they are looking forward to the birth of their first baby in late March next year....very, very exciting!!!

This Goody Goody binding kit was a tutorial on Vanessa's blog Lellaboutique.blogspot.com she is also on IG - I have made a couple of these and have gifted one to a friend....

I also bought a new pattern by Kathy Schmitz...this is one in a series and is called My Little Stiches...just delightful....These are the completed stitcheries...

....and the finished top....I used a dark green as the contrast to a fabric from Gail Pan's first range...I am currently working on a second one of these....so I guess I haven't been completely idle in the stitching stakes!

A couple of my favourite blocks......

The table runner I started at Stitch in Spring is ready to hand quilt....

...and I have started another one....
One of my online stitching friends has a special birthday and we were invited to make a teapot block for her....Sent and received.....tick....
Christmas will be here before we know it and I have started some secret squirrel stitching for my swap gift....

A few months ago I joined the Liberty Society with Ava and Neve...so every month a little bundle of yumminess in the form of Liberty fabrics arrives in my mailbox ....this was the October selection....

Speaking of Liberty....I used a little to make this pear pincushion this afternoon (after I finished cleaning the grout in the bathroom and laundry!) ....It was quite quick to make and it was nice to get a little finish for the day. The glass pear with the succulents in it was a gift to myself a couple of weeks ago...so far so good...everything is still alive - my gardening skills are legendary - legendarily bad!

The roses in gardens on my morning walks are looking amazing....I have a couple of miniature rose bushes which are doing quite well...I like to have flowers in the house when I can....

And look....there is my girl! She and Wade have just returned to London after an epic 15 week trip around Europe. They will work for a while before coming home in January...really looking forward to having them home again!

So that was October...when I also said farewell to a man I worked with for 10 years....Vale Brian...you will be missed! ... it's also a reminder that life is short - savour every minute!
'Til next time...Lorraine

Wonderful catchup--congrats on your impending grandchild--our second grandson is due in March too! Love your stitcheries and gifts. So sweet and cute. I'm a bad gardener too, and our prolonged drought hasn't helped. Expecting our first cold front of the season tomorrow. Glad you're enjoying the weekends and hope the grout job is over now :)

Not so uneventful on the stitching front after all, Loz! You've made so many lovely things. Doesn't time pass amazingly fast - your girl and your new grandie will be here before you know it. Meanwhile, there's fun to be had. See you soon, grout expert!

I think we can let you off.......you've obviously been very busy doing lots of fun (and not so fun) things. Very exciting to have a new arrival on the way, I'm sure you can rustle up a cute quilt or two. Your stitcheries are lovely, the detail in Kathy's designs is amazing. I don't think we can expect November to pass more slowly than October, but I hope we hear from you again soon. X

Love your pear, both the fabric and the plant holder, very cute. Your stitcheries are beautiful, such even stitching those lovely designs. I think your very admirable for scrubbing the grouting, but I refuse to follow your lead on that domestic task!

Hi Lorraine - "Birds of a feather" table runner looks very nice, I'm still to finish 1 stitchery block.....slow am i - however I have been busy making baby quilt, 2 bibs & 2 burp cloths all from "Gumnut Babies" fabric from Spotlight, very pleased & went looking for more fabric to make another set...alas no more at spotlight at present hoping they get more soon. This first set is for work mate expecting first baby late Jan 16. The next set will be waiting for my nephew (getting married 30 Jan 2016) been together for 9 years & I'm told babies to follow asap. I'm off to Gail's "Stitched in Time" this coming Sat.....where I'll no doubt get more projects to add to my getting rather large collection.

PS: finally starting to enjoy not working/retirement as I'm not had any headaches for the last month!!!! & just a slight bit of unsteadyness here & there,
very pleased about that.
